2022 Creativity Project – Feb. 22

Always Faithful

Loyalty, at times
Can best be found residing
In the noble heart
Of a friend on furry feet
Who cannot secrets repeat.
The eyes a glory
Focused with love, devotion,
Finding such pleasure
In helping sorrow abate
With gentleness, sweet kisses.
Tender is the heart
Joined in comfort, friendship,
Who will stay until
The last, when tears fill our eyes
And we are broken in loss.

Prompt
Consider the ones who always cheer for you, those you can trust; create something.

I am grateful for a warmer day though there was rain at the edges. I was glad for the Oreos and Almond Milk. I am happy that it seems I may be losing a bit of the weight I have gained. Clean bed linens are a piece of Heavenly delight. I am thankful for my home.

Beheld

Nothing evident
Only a single attempt
To signal others
About what probability
May be learned between spaces
Suddenly all
The letters could shift around
Configure anew
Convey another message
But memory its stages
Might still somehow know
The voice spoken into space
Echoing in places
Unknown yet present today
What was said, what still does say
Forever reaching
Searching for reason, meaning
Where voices teeming
Dilute, confuse, make rubbish
Of a delicate balance
Created for blessing
Sharing, caring, loving, being
A gift remembered
Gracious, audacious, infectious
Unique, creative, precious.

Away

The heart has its home
In a far country, fair, free
Where all problems flee
Taken away by Jesus’ Love;
A home where perfection
Is always in everything.

Unsurpassed

The feeling
Touched softly
Held lightly
Security,
A comfort
Never fret
Doubt, fear
Let go
Sent far apart
By LOVE
Which will
Not relent
Taking burdens
Curtain rent.

Haiku
1
Maybe tomorrow
The hopes realized, dreams true
My life adores YOU!
2
My songs I give you
For all, I owe to your LOVE
Jesus Christ, my Lord.

What is holding you back, fear of failure, worry over approval? Make an effort, see where it leads you; if your creation disappoints you, try again.

1. Sunshine
2. Strawberries

Counted Syllabics
1.
Sleep an absolute
Need to live, survive, and thrive,
Elusive indeed.
2.
Rent a what? Human,
Surely not, but is that what
By the hour, implies?
3.
Reading you and me
The sophisticated one
Graduated tops.
4.
I am awash in
An explosion of these tasks,
Before completion
Numbers seem to propagate,
Sunset calls; owls, “Whoo,” eerie.

Today was long. I will leave you with this prompt.

If you recognize set limitations, can you be happy within the boundaries? Create your explanation.

CREATIVE RETREAT

We cannot control everything. Sometimes it is even impossible to manage the meat-space behind our eyes. There is so much of our brainpower we do not use according to science, but maybe it only comes online in the odd moment to suggest and fixate on things obscure. They are not entirely sure, so how should we be?

We creatives can do this; we can ditch procrastination and show up to work or play, as we may see it.

Since devices distract, we can take them off-line and turn them off. Analog is refreshing at times. A blank canvas or page has charm unmatched by screens. If we need references, books of the material variety are always workable.

Sitting with the quiet, allowing ourselves to think deeply, opens the opportunity for images and words to present themselves without vying for attention in our minds, making it easier to bring them to life.

Calls, social media, texts will wait for us. Life may move, but it is exceedingly likely nothing ground-shattering will happen during the space of a creative session.

Getting busy creating and minimizing distractions while making or writing something may lead to breakthroughs of startling proportion.

If we needed screens to be productive creatively, the old masters and former generations would never have achieved all the wonders that presaged our civilization.

Check out to dig in and do something marvelous!
