Evening Revels
Whatever happened
To the ones who drifted by
Not knowing the names
Of the places once traveled,
But drinking the wine, despite?
Maybe the meeting
Of another changed the face
Of one, perhaps more,
Bringing smiles that sang loudly
Of happiness, shared bedrooms.
There may be others
Like the one in a blue suit
Who was returning
From a funeral wished not
To have attended, hopeless.
Reckon all these lives
Will little remember how
Each place held lilies
In blue vases chased with gold,
If memory stays at all.
