Statement of Fact

DSC_0173
Giving up would be
So easy, I can feel it,
Sneaking up behind,
But I have a strong message
For that life stealing demon
I do not back down, nor quit,
So take your torment away
And do not trouble me, mine,
Or you are surely
Bound to see this tigress break
The bars that hold me
From raging wild totally
Unleashed with power to shake your world
I am not one to give up
You go your way or have no way left.

This follows syllable counts some ways, but it would be termed free verse by most experts. It is an example of how emotion, defiance, can be brought into forceful expression in a poem.

Think of a struggle in life, refusing defeat, and write what comes. Create a storm of feeling on the page.

Seven haiku

DSC_0020

Haiku is a form of play, just something enjoyable to pass the time, especially for an insomniac. This is a crop from wee hours.

I.
From the beginning
Your sweet smile could rock the world
Outshining the stars.

II.
Power is not best
Used to beat down people’s lives,
But to raise them up.

III.
Kind words are a balm
Angry ones stir up rancor
Causing faults that break.

IV.
When joined together
Even tiny efforts can
A difference make.

V.
Given a puppy
A person learns love’s real worth
Finds true compassion.

VI.
All cats may possess
Nine lives, but eight are spent in
Trying owners’ souls.

VII.
Given words, wordsmiths
May spin an arc to span worlds,
Creating hope, dreams.

Now it is time to try this, remember the lines count 5-7-5 syllables. Just let the mind wander and feed the words it wishes. It is not hard. Pretend it is something done forever and maybe it will be easier.

Musing

2017-09-09 Replenished

This is a free but somewhat formed poem created this morning on a 6×6 sheet of decorated paper that can be purchased in a slab from various craft stores. The marker is a brown Tombow, but it really cannot be distinguished from the scan.

It is always good to try different materials in our work. Sometimes it scales things in a way that challenges us to be more creative. Using handwriting brings a direct connection to the work that can seem lacking on an electronic device. Experimentation is a great way to open the mind to new ideas.

Everything in our environment has a creative purpose if we search it out. Thinking of ourselves as a genius writers, artists, photographers, musicians, or workers in any other discipline and doing what we would if we were getting paid as we probably desire creates a sense of esteem and clarity. What projects would we choose? What would we try that we have been afraid to do thus far? When would we work? How would we play? As much as possible we should make these things a part of our lives in the present. We do not have time to wait to begin living a life we love. We have all the elements of success in us right now. We must be that person as much as we can. Believe, and likely it will be received. Life gives us what we have already claimed.

Every moment of our lives is a creative opportunity, sometimes it happens haphazardly, knocking us from routine. We should welcome the impulse and give ourselves to it. We only have this life, and it speeds away from us every moment, so we are called to make the best of time, creating beauty to enrich the world.

As a quick prompt imagine yourself vacationing on a cruise ship and meeting someone you immediately like so much that you make something to give to them before you separate at the upcoming port. Have fun and surprise yourself.

It’s a wrap

Believe In Your Dreams Coloring Page0001

This is an art activity anyone can handle. Next time there is a large piece of packing paper, or you could get butcher paper, or really any huge piece of paper remember this use for it. You may need some art supplies if you do not collect them as nobody we will mention does. Ideally, you would gather watercolors, and it can be the kid version, or markers, or crayons, or colored pencils, you can see where I am going with this, just some colored supplies.

Smooth the paper out on a flat surface and choose the more textured side. The idea is to create something colorful that covers the whole sheet. You can simply spread colors around and blend as you wish, or you can draw and color patterns or scenes or characters, anything is fine. Your imagination is your guide. This will take a little time so choose when you can spare as much as an hour, maybe more.

You might consider how you will use your finished creative project. My first suggestion is as wrapping paper. When you determine your purpose, you will probably better know your color scheme, or you may decide to go with something totally unique. You are always in charge of your creativity, no one can boss your muse. We each have ultimate freedom in how we decide to create.

I do not have a finished project like this to show, but I am sure you can come up with something you enjoy making.

A note on the coloring page. My artistic abilities were once more refined, but I have neglected drawing for some time, and I need practice. This is why I stress daily creative work. Use it, or lose it.

Thank you for visiting Haphazard Creative. I hope you enjoyed your stay and will come again soon. There is a follow button to your right and comments make my day. Take care and be busy creating!

Creative Inspirations

Butterfly & Flowers_edited

We are all creative, having the ability to make beautiful things which we may share with the world. I encourage you to make an effort to use your creativity daily. This is doable, no matter your skill level. If you are having problems imagining a starting point, perhaps you will find the following prompts helpful. Only take the suggestion and allow yourself to begin the work. Do not let your inner critic stifle your creative impulse. You can do anything you choose. There are prompts enough to jumpstart your brain.

  • You are a gift from the hand of the Creator… Be aware of your incredible importance.
  • Nothing you do can separate you from love.
  • Your thoughts are precious… Treat them with tender care.
  • Today could be “The Day”…
  • Say “I Love You” often. It costs nothing and has significant benefits.
  • Time spent enriching your mind is never wasted. You were meant to grow in wisdom and grace.
  • Breathe deeply and relax. Give yourself permission to live in happiness.
  • Fight negative thoughts, those waste valuable energy given you for good.
  • Give your face a break and enhance your day… SMILE!
  • Complete the sentence… Today, I am grateful:
  • Be glad cows cannot fly… Now, why were you complaining?
  • Be alert to the beauty that surrounds you everywhere and at all times.
  • What gives you pleasure? Do it today…
  • Don’t say can’t. You have unlimited potential to create the life you want.
  • Believe in yourself, if you fail to do this, no one else will believe in you.
  • Make a list of your blessings. Go back and read it often.
  • Remember the last time you cried? Honor your sorrow and pain.
  • If you died… How would people remember you?
  • What is holy in your existence? Share that with someone you love.
  • Listen to your favorite song. Why do you love it?
  • Wherever you live, honor your place by creating a haven of peace.
  • Light a candle…
  • Write down your goals… Know what is most important to you.
  • Respect your gifts and employ them as often as possible.
  • Send cards… Something about personal mail brightens a dull day.
  • Remember “Please” is a magical word.

Have fun creating!
