Enchantment
I slept my birthday Night in the golden canvas Raft sunflowered in my room Where the carpet made deep sea, Daylight came teasing me up.
Nights to weekend, treat, I lounged in the comfort Of the Summer smelling Island centered in from bunks Feeling pillowed aboard Rope dangling dreaming water.
When I pushed the small boat Into the lake, my tan legs pimpled Like plucked chicken skin I dove toward the center But bathed in the crisp cold Shivering after the floated away.
Lessons sometimes tear The gentle expected flinching Off life teaches young, memory Buys nothing but bills unpaid True oneself bites, slips, cast-off Keep confidence to grab on Not even this, forever, but long.
Sometimes life pummels us Others it is best of friends A reason to keep going when Tension weighs enough to bend The ideas of purpose, worth – thin. Struggle on the river Leaves hearts, souls, a quiver Bodies in frigid winds shiver Fragile warmth, conversation titters As hope alights, the sweet giver. Love assays each situation Making experience an equation Depositing delight by multiplication All goodness finds attribution In Christ’s generous contribution.
Prompt: Use rhyme or repetitive symbology in a work of creativity.
Neil has been in the news recently, some controversy with a podcast celebrity. The details of that mean very little to me. Music, however, is a balm to me.
I do not recall the exact year, sometime between 1979 and 1981; I remember being introduced to Neil Young’s music in a tiny two-room basement apartment where I was continually trying to invite the light in because dusk was its only setting.
A group of us were playing Dungeons & Dragons, and Joe brought some albums to introduce to me because even then, I avoided radio. He had Live Rust, and when he lowered my Capehart Stereo’s needle to the vinyl on the album, I knew I would be listening from then on. When Neil sang, “I Am Child,” I knew he understood. “Sugar Mountain” could have been the anthem of my emancipation; getting married at sixteen took fortitude and a will to escape.
I went to Turtle’s the next day and bought Live Rust and Decade. Every iteration of recordings I purchased, those two above, Harvest, and After The Gold Rush, were members of my collection.
Neil will never keep silent; the music is strong in him.
Loyalty, at times Can best be found residing In the noble heart Of a friend on furry feet Who cannot secrets repeat. The eyes a glory Focused with love, devotion, Finding such pleasure In helping sorrow abate With gentleness, sweet kisses. Tender is the heart Joined in comfort, friendship, Who will stay until The last, when tears fill our eyes And we are broken in loss.
Prompt Consider the ones who always cheer for you, those you can trust; create something.
I am grateful for a warmer day though there was rain at the edges. I was glad for the Oreos and Almond Milk. I am happy that it seems I may be losing a bit of the weight I have gained. Clean bed linens are a piece of Heavenly delight. I am thankful for my home.

Everyone feels defeated at times; the world and its problems overwhelm the mind and emotions. Personal setbacks also seem insurmountable, but creativity, positivity, and prayer help everyone overcome.
Prayer can settle the mind and help ideas arise, which upset can cloud. Having a possibility outlook, where positive material is brought into the intellect regularly, also adds confidence to a person’s toolbox. Creativity may supply unusual solutions or unique rationales that incite action and bring courage.
Asking others to share a burden or soliciting advice can be helpful, but these can also confuse. Many things require individual attention. There are deep wells of ability in each person when accompanied by a belief in oneself.
Treating others and ourselves with love is advised by the Bible, and it has many benefits. It gives the right impetus to allow us to conquer impossibility and rids us of many negativities which seize control and convince us of inadequacies.
Remember, sometimes goals are not accomplished immediately; great things may require a commensurate investment of time.

Prompt Smile, look at yourself in a mirror, and say, ‘I believe in myself. I can fulfill my dreams. I am loved, and I love who I am and am becoming.’ After these affirmations, work on a creative project formerly neglected because it is a considerable challenge.
Gratitude List I am thankful: For central heat. For warm clothes. For things my Mom taught me. For hope. For God’s love holding me even when I do not notice.
