You, I Need…

I need you…
Like all the quilts tonight.
I need you…
Like the pen with which I write.
I need you…
Like the heat of a shower.
I need you…
Like a cooler swallow of water.
I need you…
Like a rose within the hedge.
I need you…
Like another taste of chocolate.
I need you…
Like a song I often sing.
I need you…
Now and forever, here with me.

Never far out of mind, but always beyond reach.

Ah Well, Love…

If your smile were money
We could free the world of poverty.
If your voice were music
The concert would last endlessly.
If you chose to become a model
Applause would greet you each runway.
If you acted upon the gilded screen
The best lines would find your role.
If you took my hand in yours
You would own my heart immediately.

I get silly when I stay up. Then when do I not stay up? Anyway, I was playing with words. I think, though, this might make a good Valentine.

Never hesitate
To say words which need saying,
Remember kindness
Edit the pain from verses
Leave portions of blame submerged.
Be a vessel with
Love overflowing to share
Positives which can
Unmake histories of dark
Shadow introducing light.
Decant the music
Noun and verb present sentence
Tense making merry
Encouraging, delighting,
Set straight, inspiring, writing
While knowing what is
Can work out all the showing
Instead of hidden
In the cave depths, the meadow
Displays drama past the stage.

This poem is conjoined Tanka, which I find enjoyable.

Things Strange

You think I live, here,
In this home so disordered,
You are mistaken,
I live among merry words,
Thoughts, beliefs, dreams, in my mind.

*********

Not writing for me,
Today, I write for those dreams,
Every person holds
Where freedom stretches beyond
Now to become forever.

*********

Just playing with language, which is my favorite object and my fondest playground. If you find yourself with time to fill, you may not feel it ill to spend some moments tasting words and discovering how to mix them. It does not take the highest skill, nor need in-depth instruction, just put your mind in gear and drive it past distraction.

Herewith

It is not far, removed,
Remote from me, no,
It keeps my company
Along the way, this, every day,
The fleeting grin asserts
Itself, now and again.
In the quiet, remove, I get by
With the creativity which
Survives every inconvenience
And fell assault of time
Because love assists each
Effort made to give way
To such new work, as may
Raise the spirits of those
Who chance encounter
Words ordered here today.

The Prompted Positive Poetry prompt today is “Remote,” which I think I took another direction.
