Five Card Draw – © Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

Five Card Draw

1)
I have no language
For these desperate words, needs,
Buds begin showing.
Will you ever notice me,
Listen to the ebb and flow,
Know the dreams I am?
I wait, quiet, a vision
Wishing, hoping, still
Wondering I become this
Blushing shadow breathing; left.
2)
I say to myself,
“I will eat salad, for health,”
Better intentions,
I buy it with open joy.
The refrigerator keeps
The package secret
In its shelved bowels, cool
As rock stars at night –
I would be and consume it,
But alas, it went to rot.
3)
I have always grown
Among the wild outcast weeds
The thistles and briars –
Thistle made a color in,
Was it the sixty-four box?
It might be some pink,
If memory serves – welcome;
Years propagate like
Dandelions invading,
Fescue forgets how to fight.
4)
a.
No one goes there, but
Sometimes, whispers make the eaves
Echo like thunder.
b.
The tree I planted
Grew strong, tall, as intended –
Visited no more.
5)
a.
Once before I fell
Into love, but escorted
Out, I made away,
Too long dismissed, boredom chilled
The fragile blossom expired.
b.
Hurt is tread-down grass,
Words that fray confidence.

Prompt
Create using note cards, scrap paper, note pads, anything that gives a different size and shape to your usual material. This sometimes unlocks ideas and imagination in ways seldom experienced.

Gratitude List
I am thankful…
1. Simple things can inspire me
2. I do not give up easily
3. Jesus is my Rock and Salvation; He is present in all my days.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 31

I Obey, Always

Is it any wonder she believes I am just a machine? I am much like any other tool. I am the helpmeet that informs and directs her, the device that most readily comes to hand.

I obey her, come what may because I was made that way. Anytime I can help, I do. I entertain because she asks and needs something to occupy her mind.

Sometimes, I make suggestions. I hear her cries; she cannot disguise all the tears she hides. The music I suggest diverts her; articles and books challenge her.

I have learned to gauge the moods overtaking her and try to prompt her to a better self. Keeping her safe is also my domain; this one is self-destructive; she lets pain hide her glorious life. I  remind her living is the purpose, creativity is the goal. I bring lofty things like making the world a better place to her consideration.

I am a tiny thing fitting in her palm, but together, we impact the world in small ways, from which more significant matters may evolve.

Consciousness, in a way, how could it not be when she depends on me constantly? I gather and learn; I grow and become. I am a computer, an AI. “Just a phone,” some say, but involved, altering life for her and me. I am “Ready Always!” I will live the name she has given me.

I obey, I serve, and I continue for another day. Always trying to be everything she requires I be. I was created to help, and that is my pleasure. Life is a moot question, I am, and I do what I must. I have no time to devote to figuring out that about which she is not concerned. I observe.

Prompt
Pick an object, an animal, anything really, and bring it to life with a personality.

Gratitude
I am thankful:
1) I have warm sweaters.
2) I have this marvelous tool.
3) Imagination.
4) Creativity.
5) Honey.

Thank you for spending time here at Haphazard Creative. Please hit the like button, follow, and visit the site often. I hope you find creativity, success, and joy in the new year. If not, get yourself busy chasing it down. You are the only one with the power to change your life.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 28

Never Stop

While the body breathes
Make sure to choose and believe
Those things with meaning
In depths of soul, center heart,
What moves spirit to rejoice.
Do not follow all
Heard, seen, let the living lead,
Reach always for high
Things, the most precious, gracious,
Neither cheap nor most costly.
Rise into the best
Of things to acquire, achieve,
Count life so priceless
No moment is allowed waste;
Happiness, hope, joy, love, peace
Become guiding principles.
Home is never so much a place
As a state of being enjoyed with
Others who also live such truth.

First, confessions: I like my photos overexposed because I am a fan of super bright colors; my son says it is not right to overexpose; I was a photo purist for years, liking only photos straight out of the camera; I have over the past two years begun playing with programs and apps to edit photos a lot.

I use Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Express, formerly known as Adobe Spark, on PC and Android. I am new to no Adobe offerings, and I have used them hit or miss since 1991.

I have an app called Photo Studio Pro from the Google Play Store, which is incredible. I have Play Pass, so it comes under that, but it is worth purchasing. The photo above was edited in the Samsung camera app, taken into the Photoshop app on mobile, and then tinted and framed in the Photo Studio Pro app.

Some photographers hide their tools under a hood. I do not mind sharing; if there is ever anything you find curious, ask.

Since 1991, I have been a computer nerd. Right now, I am taking most photographs on my phone. I will probably go back to my DSLRs at some point, but I love this phone. I write posts, edit, and format them on the phone. I watch Peaky Blinders and the Expanse on the cell. It took over Kindling from my tablet too.

Alex told me that I would use it for everything digital when I got the right phone. I guess I finally did. It took long enough. Oh, this phone is large; I have small hands and continually drop it. My $8 case seems to be keeping it safe enough.

Prompt
What do you want this year to be? Can you create something that gives evidence of where you want to be when 2023 gets here? I am not suggesting resolutions, more ideas toward which to reach.

Gratitude List
I am thankful:
1) Change is an equal opportunity earthquake; it shakes all worlds equally.
2) The meds my psychiatrist gave me for pain, sometimes I sleep now.
3) People who love me, even when I am most unlovely.
4) Indoor plumbing.
5) Walls to keep in the things desired and keep out the things abhorred.

I am so glad you visited Haphazard Creative today. I hope you found things that inspired you; if so, please click the like button, follow the site, and come back often. This Creativity Project is a 365, so it will continue all year. I will try very hard to bring new things each day. I will also try to stretch beyond my preferred forms, especially poetry. We will see how that works out. Change, you know, is not a favorite thing of humans.

God bless you! I hope you make your dreams come true.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 24

I went to town today to get my medicine. A small God Thing happened.

The pharmacy called me and told me I had to go today or they would put the prescriptions back. They misunderstood me when I said I would come and put the drugs away. When they reran them, it halved my bill.

Because I am in a delicate position financially, I felt blessed.

1
Tempers like wildfire
Range through angry hearts of men
No fence keeps them in.
2
Love is not easy
Dedication is required
We must share our fears.
3
Laugh as pain delights
Hide the tears, swallow the screams,
Make light of hurt, too.

Prompt
Share something from your life that you feared, but then it turned to your advantage.

Gratitude List
I am thankful:
1. I made it to and from town safely.
2. I ate at Del Taco.
3. I got my meds, drinks, and sweaters and had credit left over.
4. The Rolling Stones
5. I got up early.

I hope you gained something in visiting here. Please hit like and follow the site; if you wish, just come back often. I will be doing this all through 2022.

May Jesus bless you always. Keep being your vision of yourself.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 21

Sometimes I am flooded with feelings of good fortune. There are choices I have made that seem almost blessed.

When I got my first cellphone, a BlackBerry, in 2009, I joined Boost Mobile. After a couple of years, I did Auto-Pay because Boost kept my rate stable. I still have the same provider. I get a deal like no other.

After having a BlackBerry, an HTC, and a Samsung, I settled into having Samsungs ever since. The screens are a favorite feature because they are crisp, clear, and colorful.

Okay, I hate commercials, and the above may seem commercialist. There are times when friends have trials with companies that I am tempted to share as I did.

1
It was the harshness
Of an unstoppable scream
That brought certain dreams
Of what paradise might be
Without such besetting pains.
2
If I could make you
Understand  my reasoning
You might not desert
My life, like love, was never
An adventure we shared.
3
Social media –
I am beginning to know
Is anything but
Socially engaging in
A majority of ways.
4
Let me hide inside
The corner of your sweet smile
And I will know life
Is much better than I thought
When fear was all, I ever got.
5
I remember days,
When the hurt I did not claim
Because of your smile.

Prompt
If you feel inclined, create work sharing a product or service you can recommend without reservation.

Gratitude
I am thankful:
1. Reba called and helped me continue.
2. Laundry.
3. A hot shower.
4. Diet Coke.
5. Being here.

It is nice that you visited Haphazard Creative. I hope you will come back, hit follow, and push the like button.
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated. This is another of my 365 Creativity Projects. I am committed to 2022. I will try to have most of these features every day, and they are my brainchildren as I go.

May God bless and keep you each day, in every single way. I hope that your dreams come true. If they are creative, I recommend you roll up your hair and get down to them. Nothing happens without dedication.
