Things Strange

You think I live, here,
In this home so disordered,
You are mistaken,
I live among merry words,
Thoughts, beliefs, dreams, in my mind.

*********

Not writing for me,
Today, I write for those dreams,
Every person holds
Where freedom stretches beyond
Now to become forever.

*********

Just playing with language, which is my favorite object and my fondest playground. If you find yourself with time to fill, you may not feel it ill to spend some moments tasting words and discovering how to mix them. It does not take the highest skill, nor need in-depth instruction, just put your mind in gear and drive it past distraction.

Herewith

It is not far, removed,
Remote from me, no,
It keeps my company
Along the way, this, every day,
The fleeting grin asserts
Itself, now and again.
In the quiet, remove, I get by
With the creativity which
Survives every inconvenience
And fell assault of time
Because love assists each
Effort made to give way
To such new work, as may
Raise the spirits of those
Who chance encounter
Words ordered here today.

The Prompted Positive Poetry prompt today is “Remote,” which I think I took another direction.

Sigh

No one writes the story
Unless they lived it, heart, soul,
Because it hurts too much
To tell if you have not reached
The other side where you
May smile through the tears
Tracking grooves on your face,
Recognizing you survived all
The breakage taking place.

We are more powerful than we
Credit ourselves ever being,
We have made it swimming
Through oceans, tromping in mire,
Covered in the ordure of what
We should never have touched.

Still, we chide ourselves for
Not having perfection enough
To avoid what captures our
Attention like neon strobes
Accompanying sirens on
Some sizzling Summer night.
When danger walks bareheaded
Weapons openly displayed;
Ah, love is a war we fight
Outside our minds, inside
Our hearts, suffering silence
Screaming sudden shuddering
Delight.

Adapted

A little down now
But I am not so put out
That I cannot see,
The Master of all days is
Working the hours for me.
I shall find it well
When this time is gone and past
He held me, oh fast,
Never letting go though I
May have thought myself alone.
In even the times
Sorrow, fear brought me to tears
God kept the hazards
From mounting in my pathway
Because He evermore loves me.
There is no one like
The Lord Jesus, who died for me
For Him I live, love,
In His mercy, grace abide
Me – His, He – mine, through all time.

Forms in Expression

Those of you who knew I was following prompts earlier this month may wonder what happened. Often I try to pursue things, and my creativity goes, “Aw Nah, this is not doable. Pick another design.” So I am set back on my own devices. My originality does not like to conform. So, there you go if you had a thought about it.

Today, I have little short forms.

1.
What tomorrow holds
Today can only guess, not know,
Each moment bestows
Its own opportunity
For those who choose to grasp it.

2.
Love may strike and steal
Hearts captured in a net of
Passion and desire.

3.
Voices whisper small
Secrets guarded by delight
As love takes today.

4.
Twilight ambles near
Relinquishing the sunlight
As shadows dance, play.

5.
The words unspoken
Almost slip smooth tasty
Off the tongue but
Instead are swallowed burning
Feeding hunger’s inferno.

6.
What we never ask
Always remains a question,
Gifts may fade away.

7.
Life is a palace
Filled with grandeur and delight,
But sometimes it hides
In the tedium of mundanity,
We invest in happiness.
