Moonlight Symphony – © Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

Moonlight Symphony

Can you feel the kiss
Of the light upon your face,
The breezy caress
Coming to you from deep space,
Love for you in every trace?
Are you open to
Songs finding their way to you,
Whispering your name?
So many gifts time brings, romance,
Love chooses heartstrings to woo.
How precious are you
The moon in a sky, you light –
Illuminating
Night, dance around and around
A delightful perfection of sound.
Always cherished
A moonlight symphony in motion
Eliciting continual devotion –
Love lifting high, bringing round,
A partner in you now found.

Prompt

What or who is your spark? When you call upon deep motivation, how does it manifest? Create something that symbolizes your vitality.

Loose

The love-ly life-time
Is the moment creation
Sparks into places
Unimagined, leads higher
Than, there exists right to dream.

Testing the wind-blown breeze
Tasting Love in the air, free
Believing despite
A treacherous heart, doubt-filled,
A detective sorting clues.

Singing a new song
Unpublished, never performed,
Still clearing the silence
Measuring the notes, fitting words
Hallowing the Savior, Love.

Poetry pours out
Like floodwaters from downspouts,
A spider seeks sun,
A courtship began anew
Becomes brighter, lighter hue.

Taken by hand, head,
Heart – given what passes for
Music on clear page –
To devotion forever
The Lord Jesus Christ – soul saved.

Five Card Draw – © Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

Five Card Draw

1)
I have no language
For these desperate words, needs,
Buds begin showing.
Will you ever notice me,
Listen to the ebb and flow,
Know the dreams I am?
I wait, quiet, a vision
Wishing, hoping, still
Wondering I become this
Blushing shadow breathing; left.
2)
I say to myself,
“I will eat salad, for health,”
Better intentions,
I buy it with open joy.
The refrigerator keeps
The package secret
In its shelved bowels, cool
As rock stars at night –
I would be and consume it,
But alas, it went to rot.
3)
I have always grown
Among the wild outcast weeds
The thistles and briars –
Thistle made a color in,
Was it the sixty-four box?
It might be some pink,
If memory serves – welcome;
Years propagate like
Dandelions invading,
Fescue forgets how to fight.
4)
a.
No one goes there, but
Sometimes, whispers make the eaves
Echo like thunder.
b.
The tree I planted
Grew strong, tall, as intended –
Visited no more.
5)
a.
Once before I fell
Into love, but escorted
Out, I made away,
Too long dismissed, boredom chilled
The fragile blossom expired.
b.
Hurt is tread-down grass,
Words that fray confidence.

Hidden Words

The poem is in us
Lying dormant, a snake set to strike
With power and might
Ready, free to take our breath away
Enlighten us with visions, dreams
We allowed lapsing
Among the preoccupations
Of mundane days filled with stress,
Times we left ourselves leaderless.
The poem is in us
Crackling with hungry flames
To put our hearts, minds afire
Encourage us to grow, inquire
Into the methods which may
Lead us in a meaningful way
Steering us to share a greater love
Teaching others of the need
To carry out every good deed.
The poem is forever in us
Our mission is to search it out
Unleash it from its hiding place
Bringing it into open space
Guiding the world to share grace.

There are so many things here that remind me – Mom is gone. I miss her. She loved this giant heavy cement pig, and she even painted it, and I cannot move it.

The DungeonMaster Died

I know he was not yours
But this has universality,
Please, lend your time to me:
Listen close; you can almost hear
As the dragons roar, far and near,
Before leaving their lairs to fly
A beautiful formation across the sky
Allowing tears from every creature’s eye.
Boroughs, cities, hamlets, towns
Everywhere take their banners down
So pageantry of colors fair add no cheer
In the world where his thought and vision
Through creativity brought life and activity.
I spent many hours there, I tell you truly,
No one else like him I ever knew;
In the evenings, he built a sanctuary
From the disillusionment of ordinary days
For a party of strangers who became great friends
Those times I wish could be here again;
A world and heroes will quietly disappear into yore
All our spells, weapons, and treasure
Will now go unclaimed forever.
The DungeonMaster died,
But to each player who lived
Those faithful magic moments
The awareness of this loss’ cost
Will never to memory be lost.

Now that I have typed this up, I wonder…

Few things lately have so strongly resonated with me; I will let it stand despite doubt.

Prompt
Create a work about something highly emotionally charged. If you feel inclined, share it. I did.

Gratitude List
1. Recent reading.
2. Working through my fear, I recorded a song.
3. Rain.
4. The Rolling Stones
5. Poetry can sometimes tell a story more clearly than prose.
