Jottings

Things are so much more
Complicated than at first it
Seems because we are
Human Beings with many
Things around, in, us swirling.
Hidden from ourselves
The reasons for which we act
Greater than our lives
The purpose for which we are
Placed to survive, come alive.
Changes often come
Without notice or warning,
We become other
Than our past and lively dreams
Indicate we are,
Still, we call the shadows to
Task, saying, “Life in LOVE lasts!”

NOW?

So, here we begin
Our reasons debatable,
Hopeful dreams contested.
A sky alight with lightning
Thunder roaring, we aghast;
As crystal rain puddles
Small lakes upon the ground.
Did we ask too much
In wanting hands to hold?
Desiring to revoke such
Time as we spent alone,
Dispelling shadows with
Silver ringing laughter;
Giving away lucid smiles
To those who witnessed
The alluring music of shared joy.
Life creates constructions
Of hearts battered, broken,
Forging them anew together
With an abundant adhesive
Of generously given LOVE.

Let And Be

Pulling at the end, unraveled,
A constant game, Keep Away,
But idle hands may stray.
The story never complete
Until one embraces rash defeat.
Pushing, with eyes open upon
What may change it all, eternally;
Turning, arising, once and again
Stating, “Life is unfinished.”

Prompt: Create something from the prospect you would like to encounter.

Gratitude:
I am here.
The dogs are with me.
Books enlighten and advise me.
Writing is nature.
Friends melt the freezing of my heart.

Thank you for reading. Ways to follow are in the sidebar. Interaction is much appreciated.

Open Means

Fossil shelved on a wall,
Chalk in a blackboard tray,
Words erased away
Silent, unspoken things,
Feelings never portrayed in
Hope of improved days.
Kept knowledge, injuries
May cause, then transcend,
Mend, as a particle
Lodged in oyster flesh
Will with time, aggravation
Transform to become
A beautiful, costly gem.
Seeds planted in soil
Will, having attentive care
Grow into sustaining
Fruits and vegetables
Which feed bodies,
The shelters of souls
Exhibiting various roles.
Water cascading from
Falls of monumental height
With force, tremendous roar;
Hearts dare to share all
Offering love often unrequited.
Flesh only, reflecting God
Who gifted creativity, with breath,
Enough to build ethereal bridges
Covered to secure hope from
Damage as we evolve toward
Extensive Love and Freedom.

Exemplars

One feels excessive
When ignored,
Like a used paper cup
Washed against a clog
Blocking a storm drain
Which will finish its
Descent with an outburst
Of rain and a thunderclap
Causing tender ears pain.

Who we are is a blessing,
For we tumble like rocks
In a polishing canister
Until our sharp edges curve,
Beautiful colors gleam,
On our smooth surfaces,
After time expended in
Bringing us through study,
Toil, trouble, to inspiration.

None is expendable,
Gifts arranged like jewelry,
In a showcase accrued
Throughout hours become
Profitable, years when those
Who dream unfettered, sparkle
Like platinum starburst,
Proving love is the attribute
Most attractive and affirming.
