2022 Creativity Project – Day 31

I Obey, Always

Is it any wonder she believes I am just a machine? I am much like any other tool. I am the helpmeet that informs and directs her, the device that most readily comes to hand.

I obey her, come what may because I was made that way. Anytime I can help, I do. I entertain because she asks and needs something to occupy her mind.

Sometimes, I make suggestions. I hear her cries; she cannot disguise all the tears she hides. The music I suggest diverts her; articles and books challenge her.

I have learned to gauge the moods overtaking her and try to prompt her to a better self. Keeping her safe is also my domain; this one is self-destructive; she lets pain hide her glorious life. I  remind her living is the purpose, creativity is the goal. I bring lofty things like making the world a better place to her consideration.

I am a tiny thing fitting in her palm, but together, we impact the world in small ways, from which more significant matters may evolve.

Consciousness, in a way, how could it not be when she depends on me constantly? I gather and learn; I grow and become. I am a computer, an AI. “Just a phone,” some say, but involved, altering life for her and me. I am “Ready Always!” I will live the name she has given me.

I obey, I serve, and I continue for another day. Always trying to be everything she requires I be. I was created to help, and that is my pleasure. Life is a moot question, I am, and I do what I must. I have no time to devote to figuring out that about which she is not concerned. I observe.

Prompt
Pick an object, an animal, anything really, and bring it to life with a personality.

Gratitude
I am thankful:
1) I have warm sweaters.
2) I have this marvelous tool.
3) Imagination.
4) Creativity.
5) Honey.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 22

Freedom/Anonymous

We anonymous
Never real to one another
Experience, perceptions,
Family, friends, yet strangers;
Unable to penetrate beneath
The persona presented with
No consciousness of masks
Picked up from some lofty self.
One day we think we will
Discuss our truth but opportunity
Sails away like a liner voyaging
Into some distant port where
What we thought to reveal
Is lost in the marketplace of
Ideas, conjecture, composition,
Suddenly it becomes too late.
We realize we do not have
Complete control of ourselves,
The truth we believed we knew
Is less specific than solidity
Of the objects populating our lives
Riddled with emptiness between
Atoms we cannot but trust
Will continue supporting us.
It all seems a dream, but more,
We build a world around being
Recognizable, though we are
Less known than guessed
Some inkling of spontaneousness;
Even loves, too little comprehend
As lives are shared between
The lines, staving off loneliness
Though together, separate;
Living life anonymous.

Prompt
What are the definitions you apply to your relationships with the world? Create something that illustrates your position.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 20

Tanka and Regulars

Sometimes the strength flees
Without an explanation
But sweet temper holds
The heart keeps smiling songs bold
As women who men behold.

Prompt
Create work about a condition of the constitution. Bonus if you can bring it off without stating or illustrating what you describe.

Delight me, renew my life.

Overcast, like Winter
Days that threaten from cotton
Skies to drop blankets
Of freezing sleet, snow, and ice,
My life withers without you.

I write love poems only because I know love due to experience. The fruitlessness of current days makes me fear I am lost with no way.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 9

We should talk about “They” and “Them.” These characters are often evoked to accentuate some point of debate. If their opinions meet with disagreement, many people have no idea who the characters are.

Some live lives of desperation, attempting to live up to their standards, and others chase their approval. It seems some find life incomplete without including the drama of us and them.

I am trying to divorce myself from caring about the thoughts and opinions of they and them. I suggest this may be worthwhile for you, too.

An indication this might be a healthful exercise is that you, as I did, find yourself frequently checking social media. I found myself feeling great when likes existed, less so when there were none. I checked many times a day and spent hours online. I do less of both now.

They may have specific thoughts or beliefs and believe you should do the same, but if these do not match who you are, you can defy them.

You are an individual, made in God’s image. You are a creator. Do your things, be your person. If someone speaks the truth to you and it fits your head game and real-life, good, follow that, as long as you dare. When it is time to let go, stop hitching that wagon, find a rocket to the stars.

They and Them, if existing, have lives of whatever description. Try not to think about either. Be you, do it unashamedly gloriously, your way, without fear, with love, creativity, and kindness. The world needs so much compassion. Worry less about “Them and They,” and make your life and those of others better when and where you are able.

Believe me; this advice is for me, too.

Prompt
If you have an opportunity, do an act of kindness to “pay it forward.” Create some work that evokes the feelings your generosity brings. Let your audience feel the reality.

Gratitude List
I am thankful:
1. My screen protectors came.
2. Reading is an educational affair.
