Resistance Overcome

Day Six – 2020 Creativity Project

I do not believe in the concept of creative block, which includes Writer’s BlockI think we are capable of constant creative output, not, however, that all of it is fit for public consumption.

I keep a planner with brief notes most days, a gratitude journal frequently, a brain dump journal much of the time, and I write more creatively a lot. Today is day six, the resistance has unearthed itself and come to stand like a Spartan, with shield ready to repel me. “You SHALL NOT pass!” Yeah, um, that will not work. I, tentatively, committed to be here and do this, so it is happening.

Thing is I do not often know what to write. I could call it a block, but really it is not. It is usually that I have enough ideas flying around like kamikazes; eventually, I will find one to rescue. Ever tried to talk a suicidal idea into allowing you to work with it? It can be a bit of a challenge. A tribe of screaming banshees jump up, down, yelling, “Why in tarnation are you doing this, it is too much. Quit, quit, quit already. Why torture yourself.” Take a chill pill and climb aboard cause this train is gaining momentum, and negative hoodlums are not in the engine compartment.

If I hit a boulder too large to push out of the way, there are means. I am not afraid to employ dynamite, but it requires strategic planning. I will take note of the obstacle, then I will step away and make preparations. I may read, especially creativity, writing, or art instruction books. I am also apt to write sheer junk, where I give license to my critic and all its cronies in negativity, to spew. I write the crap down to clear my head. Afterward, I say, “Enough, shut TF up!” I pulverize the boulder, and I do what I do, which is create.

I am guessing most creatives face similar challenges, you may not use the same images to objectify what goes on, but you probably have your things. I am well acquainted with resistance. Creativity is not effortless, or everyone would be writing bestsellers, painting art to rival the Sistine Chapel, making blockbuster movies to vie with Star Wars, or creating software to supplant Windows and Apple OS. Though some of us are achieving, many never get out of the gate.

Kudos to you when you keep on long enough to make something out of thin air. The world needs your ideas, creations, methods, support, determination. People need to know that giving up, cashing out, leaving the stage is not an option. Life is difficult, but when we open our imaginative minds, we bring new concepts, stories, creations to life. We find the hope we and others need and the love to survive in the desolation.

Be well, create, love like it is your only chance, dream, and make dreams real. Make resistance reach for the sky and cartwheel by it, leaving it to wonder who you are and where you are bound. You are chosen for this time, place, position, do what you are meant for, and do it with passion. The more love you expend, the more you will have to give, and the more will come to you. Be a creator and make 2020 your year, if you do not believe in you, someone else will go in your place doing it half as well.

Beyond

We are souls in human bodies,
Our hearts carry the seeds
Of love beyond our ken.
The hurt we suffer cannot
Dim the Heavenly light
Which fills us beyond pain.
We are songs lifting the world
In its orbit building sanctuary
Beyond with the Spirit that guides us.
When one of us moves beyond
This terrestrial home, we find
That it was a temporary space.
We are made more beautiful
Than we ever imagine, because we compare,
Judge, and cannot see beyond our shadow.
If we embrace what wonders
We genuinely are we see beyond
To the gifts, we can bestow in love,
Our lives can become such blessings
Beyond measure, meeting needs, giving hope,
Building loving homes for all of us.

All you wish

Remaining Real

I have a heartache
Deeper than the ocean blue
Higher than the sunrise sky
It reminds me I am human
Teaches me to take nothing
However mundane for granted;
Tells me to cherish every moment
And love everyone I encounter
Because people have hidden scars
Struggles they cover over before
They leave for outdoors.
Life is heavy, it weighs more
Than anyone can carry, so best
Practice is to forever be kind,
So I keep the heartache
Always near my thought,
Put a smile on and live as much
As I can like nothing ever hurts
Love is eternity and the journey counts
As much or more than the destination.
We are only here a while, so we should
Do the good we can, then even more.

Poem

Out of the Briars

I know God loves me,
Well, I think; but the people;
I want acceptance,
But my life and I are all
A horrible mess, belong
Somewhere other, somewhere else.
Everything is terribly
Unfinished, broken, ugly,
And wrong, no good exists here,
Inside of me, I fear I have
Lost the will to continue,
To fight these battles, to live
In this mutilated mindscape
Where there is only constant war.

Still, there is this one, Jesus,
He says He is with me always,
He assures me, on Him, I can depend.
He DIED that I might be set free,
He is my Savior and owns eternity.
When I am tossed about
By vicious doubt, He often sends
Some little blessing, to remind
He cares and never has, not
Even for a moment, forgotten me.
I am a child of the King of Kings
And yes, sometimes I am unmindful,
Become depressed and downtrodden,
But one day, there will be a victory.

Observations

DSC_0028

Someone on Twitter was told to go away and die. I wonder if people realize how absolutely horrible and devastating, it is to say that to another human being.

Words are immensely forceful. As the Bible says, the tongue has the power of life and death. The reason is words have meaning and can create states in our minds. In our world, the power extends beyond speaking to all we write.

I wrote something affirming in answer to the tweet, “You sweep that trash away. Realize you are lovely, valuable, precious, and needed. You have a purpose and a reason. Love and goodness are surrounding you. Reach out to those who appreciate you or go find people who do. Do not give up. You are so special. Bless you.”

We must be about a positive impact on others. Love is the only life, and we must each ensure others are embraced, encouraged, and inspired.

There is enough pain in the universe without nasty words, I mean words that break hearts and souls. People attempt to be tough, and that is admirable, but at the core, our selves are fragile. Everyone needs appreciation. The battles we fight with life do incalculable damage, the least we may do is be kind and loving when we interact. It takes a bit of effort, but it could change a life from destruction and disaster to blessing and love in action.

Do not speak, nor write, in the heat of anger. It takes self-control to master your rage, but we all know this monster is not one the world requires, at all. The old saying, if you cannot say something kind, say nothing at all, has considerable merit. If we remember, we can forestall unleashing much torture on others and ourselves.

Sure, we misspeak or write things in a moment of provocation, but if we consistently curb hurtful words, we can improve our communications; with us, the community of mankind becomes more tolerant and loving.

Further thoughts…

Life can break your heart in many ways, still, give your love away. The more passion you share, the fuller your heart, so you can go on giving.

When you hurt and suffer, do not give up, you are stronger than you know. Pain helps you grow in understanding. The experiences will equip you with wisdom to provide someone who needs help with comfort.

If you have doubts, do not quit. As you keep going, you will learn more about faith and trust. After you do what presented as impossible, someone else will follow your example to success.

The struggle is never one of us alone. Others go before, and others come behind. We see the ones who slay giants, and we are inspired to conquer those rushing at us with deadly focus on our dreams and lives. The precious ones who follow take heart from our devotion and victories.

All humanity is joined, and the future depends on you and I to carry on. We have meaning and purpose because every life is significant. God loves and adores us every single one. We are given for love, for life, for joy, for abundance, for all, and forever.

These were written in my journal, longhand, during the night. I find when I type things in that editing changes occur. I am less exacting in my journal. The journal is, however, a proving ground. I can be myself on the page, where text, it exerts some logic that I find challenging.

I hope you are enjoying your days. Surround yourself with love and beauty. Let no one dissuade you from the fact you are essential. As much as you may, eliminate negativity from your attitudes and your life. Gratitude is a source of solace in times of turmoil. Be mindful of the great blessings in your life. As Thanksgiving comes about, meditate on goodness.

I am grateful:

  1.   I have family and friends who love me.
  2.   There is such ample opportunity to live.
  3.   My dogs are good company.
  4.   I was able to accomplish a lot in the house during the week.
  5.   I have writing, art, reading, music, and more to help me maintain some balance.

You are priceless, always remember who you are, a precious being come from love and living love.

As a prompt: Write, or otherwise create, something that will encourage others to hold on and then, if you can, share it. You may find that in the creation, your spirit is lifted. This is one of the tremendous gifts of positive communication. It helps us float over the waves even as it prevents someone else from drowning in the depths.

Thank you for visiting Haphazard Creative. I hope you take away something that helps you on your journey. There is a follow button, or simply come back when you wish.

Keep yourself grounded in the present, but plan as you can for the future. It comes rushing like calvary, and you must prepare or be taken by the storm. Be well, do well, and God bless you always.

Always,
