Gamble Wisely

Life is a gamble
No one knows the rules of play;
LOVE one another:
Give yourself, your heart away,
Be a treasure on your way.
Soothe the many hurting
Encourage those needing hope
Speak kindly with the lonely,
Gamble your LOVE with nary
An expectation of its return.
Ever the more LOVE wagered
Marvelous the chance you may,
Discover what is freely spent
Finds its way to later fill
You when unforeseen happiness
Rises from nowhere to meet you.
If you would your life
More splendidly spend, gamble
On many people
But hold closer and befriend
Those who remember
Loving one another
Is the capital to increase.

LOVE one another,
The beauty of it will
Never cease.

Subject to Lift

There grew a simple garden
Under nature’s wholesome care
Time was given plenty to nurture
The various elements well and fair.
Features grew as were expected
Coming beneath moon and sun of age
The seasons arriving in the turn
Of many a numbered page.
Though seldom, laughter danced
For those finest fairest moments;
Tears wrought lines with depth
To fruit character slowly granted
In the structure of a malleable face.
Love became a staff of life
A giving of God’s sweet grace,
Every day brings in passing
An emerging opportunity
Where knowledge can be
Harvested, settling in the deepness
Comprehended passionately,
Becoming fruit, a person soulfully.

This poem is in answer to Prompted Positive Poetry’s prompt, “Fruit.” If you were to see the draft I wrote in the notebook, you might be tempted to ask, “What the __________ happened?” It is unusual for something to morph like this did. I enjoyed the challenge.

When It Comes Right

Like the rumors spoken
By those who little know us
Are things that stand witness
Against who we are to be,
Without knowledge, thought,
Commitment enough
To forestall our destiny.
Life has played hard to injure
Our confidence and rob us
Of the greater strength,
But we were born for this time
Nurtured on reality’s roughness
Embued with intellect and love.
Distant castles and vast waters
Call our hearts and minds
To reach what is not easily won
In days when those who hold
Hold high places chase nothing
But their profit and give
Our treasure carelessly away.
Love will not always allow
Injustice, it is a sweetness but
Bears an incisive sword.

Alright Now…

Spoken unbroken
Words of truth, capture rapture,
Then friends fall away,
Too strange, much too different,
Experience doubtless lacks verity.
Tears fall, falling heart
No one knows the sounding down
Flesh rips loose apart
Another betrayal, break
Where life it takes, no mistake.
The knife flenses skin
Baring the muscle exposing
The gentle genuine
Heart where creativity
Works toward immunity
To heal, repair, restart, torn
Tissue and issue confidence
Enough to brave the plague
Trial by fire, forged anew
Sourcing love for a future
Unforeseen with those
Able to believe the incredible.

Be advised writing can become simply art with very little of my knowing why. I hope it is that way for everyone at times, but inspiration can be sourced beyond me.

Living the Dream

This is the caption on my shirt, and I thought, where can I go with that?

When the everything
You are doing
Is the everything
You really want,
You have achieved
The somewhat everyone
Chases after in their
Overdo, over sex, over sought.

When the bustle outside
Is managed and the harried
Does not follow you in
You order your existence,
You ration yourself zen
Doing who you are
Being always honest, faithful,
Knowing you are, and ever you.

Money cannot buy joy
But the toys can give a rush
The secret is to relish
Each day our Lord has wrought,
Counting up all blessings
Learning what you can along
Any given pathway
Being grateful, wearing smiles,
Slipping into the future
With hope bought other days,
Living the dream.
