I Voted

This is the first time in a long time that I did not vote early. I walked right in, was processed, and voted. It was good because standing in line would have been difficult.

If you have not yet voted, please do it. There is still time. I was hesitant this time around, but I had a few champs telling me I must.

It was 46 degrees out there. Not the best temp for a lightweight jacket.

Love is what I see
When confronted with your face,
A particular grace.

I thought I owned
Myself in this quiet time
I find my heart has
Another idea in mind;
You have taken me, no crime.

Short Shrift

A vast ocean flows
Within reaching for others
But it overwhelms, drowns,
With dying optimism
When rejected and alone.

Come lovely sweet one
Come here now, let me adore
You, my dear, blessing.

What I know, believe,
Is turned to all of nothing
Without, I love you.

Life runs quick along,
Carries us forward without
Giving permission.

Never taken down
Into places much desired;
The surface remains.

Head held up, above,
The drowning cascades, flowing,
From the abandon,
Blood meets bone, such evidence,
A heart let be entertained.

Hopes, a cycle dashed –
While allowing settlement,
Engagement released.

It is the last of calm before the oncoming Holidays. Now is the time to get some writing, creativity in before busyness intrudes. Haiku and tanka will not overtax you. So there is your prompt. Good fortune to you all.

Snippets

My adventures of being unable to get on the internet by computer continue. Not a good island to be marooned upon. Thank God the tablet hooks up.

The dark, bright windows
Tell the tale in just one look,
Eyes of loving soul.

I put away fear
To meet you out here, nothing
Seems a certainty,
But that you have taken hold
Of the beating heart of me.
I run and away
From much calling me, “Come close!”
I cannot escape
How you have captivated
And claimed all my attention.

I listen for it
One small word among many
Which might change my life,
But your lips are entertained
With other occupations.

I manage myself
At times, others I am storm clouds
Above roaring waves
Without option of calm, I
Become raging tempest.

Where there is hardship
God is always near to share
His kindness and strength,
He loves us unconditionally;
We survive through His support.

Alive

Leaf light filters through
Casting mosaic patterns
Brown, crimson, golden
Painted floor of woods cushioned
So footfalls are hardly heard.
Somewhere a dog howls,
A coyote snickers and yelps
An owl asks questions
No one deigns to give reply
Quiet nestles peace to rest.
As dusk falls, followed
By the skeins embroidering
Night, a crystal moon
Sighs strewing pale reflections
Of incandescent day bright.
Beyond window glows
Secrets like insulation
Keep swallowed stories
As deep as Earth and Ocean
Full as the starred Milky Way.
In hearts brilliant hot
Coals aroused to give new flame
Love Becomes Again
Whatever the driving force,
We, humans, find home together.

2020/Release

It is no wonder
Life goes as it sometimes does –
Our illusions meet
Head on with reality,
But we avoid the defeat.
We lift ourselves high
Above the troubles, surround,
Every moment, light,
Keeping the shadows away –
With faith, joy, love, kind service.
We choose happiness
When we see so much go wrong,
We help where we can,
When desperation dogs us
We outstretch our souls again.
Times may be harder
Than we care to like, but there
Is hope future days
Will hold a larger share of
Grace, possibly more delight.

Thank you for visiting Haphazard Creative. You can tap the button to follow or come back as you have time.

I think this year has been trying for most of us. Certain days can become gloomy. I thought perhaps this would inspire.

If you need a prompt, pick something out of the ordinary you are dealing with this year and create some work around it. As always, you may use whatever media appeals to your artistic sense.

I wish you well – with great prosperity and splendid blessings.
