Another House

This novel…
We’ve been writing
Over these many years,
It seems maybe more like
A collection
Of disparate stories,
Playing a soundtrack
Yours and mine –
The music,
Not the voice,
We just hit a groove
Wicked and smooth,
Winning –
Ah, loose like tigers
Jungle bait,
Antelopes far-fetched,
Can you make
The lesson
Stick like darts
On the dress, never
Worn, given out
With drinks
Not ours to consume.
Still, I know,
Some assume,
Illusions dispelled
Yet and soon,
Together forever
In miles set apart
Known, each
And ever
By heart.

This bit of riff is brought to you by listening to VooDoo Lounge, courtesy of The Rolling Stones.

Prompt: What music do you create with? Turn it up, LOUD! Find yours.

Stranger and not, the things that happen when I sit in the dark.

Tempered

I know…
I didn’t get the memo
I didn’t read the news
Because you never sent them
There was no address to use.
It seems the feeling is gone
It left a salty taste,
Somehow I am lost
Albeit time and space
Do not require my presence.
The entry can be deleted
Freely to finally let go
There alas, is no consequence
No preference left to show
I bow to all, now play.

Penny Reigns

124th entry – 2022 Creativity Project

Penny Reigns

I have a penny
Stored deep within my pocket
It has no value
In today’s daily markets;
A relic of yesterday.

I am set thinking
That time like cursors blinking
Is quick insisting
That forward is all moving
Toward something yet unseen.

Hear the deft music
Playing, urging consistent
Movement surge today
Like pennies, time slips away,
Registers without delay.

I want this moment
And another and after,
Letting yesterday
Become a foreign rumor,
Living purpose, my dreams.

Go far, fast, and free
Find the meaning of all things
Meant to have being
Reaching for true liberty
Confident, courageous life.

Forever and ever
The penny like a melody
Reminds me to give
My best in times made like these
Because excellence matters.

Stand full unafraid
The past cannot drag backward
For velocity
Carries into each second
Such growing humanity.

All of these are phenomenal books. You will do well should you pick up any of the list. There is a mix of older titles and more recent ones. I would do full reviews, but there are too many.

Music, reading, and writing are balms to the soul too wild to slow down. Attention becomes affixed, and gaps in time no longer seem to yawn. Apply the salve to better continue.
