Leaving Traces

When running, go ever lightly
Though rapid as a cheetah hunting –
Not tracking nose down, like hounds,
See the earth rising with each lunge
Catch the vision, scene in
An opportunity of words supposed
Bright foils that scrimmage
When captured upon an open page.

State the business though
Monkeyed it might be, sing it
If it is harmony – carrying peace
Like lovely masses where
Every syllable shines a precious gem
Reflections lifting sorrow, erasing
Care from souls doubting life
Can be borrowed for tomorrow.

Cupping hands for freshwater
To cool the parchment of thirst
Brought on by racing to make
This day savory, trusting
An exhausted body to rebound
Outlining a future of remarkable
Service with little decrepitude.

Lightly, overcoming the weight
Bowing shoulders, fast, losing hope;
Bringing victorious kindness forth
Presenting before the Spirit of Love
Forwarding any praise essential;
Though perhaps not winning first
God attends every soul careering on.

Thus, Begin

Sometimes you must lose
To learn to win graciously.
Sometimes your heart breaks,
To make room for love again.
Suffering can teach you
How to live more freely.
Disappointment gives a chance
For an increased appreciation of joy.
When you hit the bottom
Your energy renews for the climb.
When you are left empty, alone,
You discover your faithful friends.
When everything is gone, nothing left,
You reach for God and find Him there.
If your happiness disappears, with delight,
Jesus can restore your pleasure, full-measure.
If you need more than you are able
God can provide fulfillment plentifully.
Nothing is over unless you quit
Winners like you, keep going, getting up.

Caesurae

Salute to those
who have traveled
with me.
I hope you
enjoy whatever
journeys you
undertake.
Sometimes,
what we hope
never appears
and we fail
to understand.
I am quiet;
so be you
and find
your best true.

I did my Creativity Project for about a year and a half on Chronicles and have done it about the same here.

WORDs Worth

It all began with The Word,
And the life I live
Began with words, as well.
Nothing
I learned came without
Lettered meaning.

Each day, happily,
Brought more words,
Greater understanding.
It soon became my lot
To gather and arrange
Words
To transmit to others
What intelligence
Allotted me.

WordSmithing
Is not easy
And sometimes
The messages that found
Purchase in my mind
Had little validity
For others.

Still,
I honored what
Was given,
Set it down.

Words always –
Abound.

The second poem here was a set of paragraphs in my journal today. Often my prose is poetic. Is yours? As a prompt, take something you have written in one form and transform it into another.

Adding Up

Did you stop to hear the bird sing,
See the beauty of a rose,
Wonder at the singularity of humans,
Have your face licked by a dog?
Do you know with these things
Beloved, God pours out His love?
He counts you precious treasure
And has filled life with His riches,
You are the child He smiles upon
Be confident in the Savior’s heart
You exist with infinite worth.

Captive Surprise

Music plays me
With fluctuating
Emotions,
Leaving me
To feel
Who I am,
So real,
Alone,
But not
Without you.
I doubt I am
Strong enough
To make it
Through
All I need
To accomplish,
But I shall try
Because my
Heart beats
Your rhythm
Forever,
Always.
I gave up
Knowing who,
What I am –
Only you
Can
Define me.
As I am
Refined,
Your love
Carries away
Those things
Not building
A better me.
Somehow all
The time
It is more of
You
I find.
