Haphazardly Alone

© Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

I felt this topic applicable and have not posted from my journal recently, so I shared this. While doing my Creativity Project on Chronicles, I entered a handwritten piece almost daily.

I have been having difficulty with handwriting for a while. I recently discovered my vision impacted that because, on a whim, I picked up a set of reading glasses. I wear contacts that are an adequate adjustment, but close work like writing demands a bit more.

Being a bit perfectionistic, I hate to bring anything not up to my standard here.

Prompt: Do something unusual in your creative practice; share it if you dare.

Gratitude:

One of my most challenging times of year ends within the next few days, Easter being the culmination of it, and I made it through without a major meltdown.
Back on track with handwriting.
I cooked from scratch the other night, and it was not all bad.
Having a dishwasher.
Running water.

Sometimes I wonder why I continue with this, but it is my practice. If I were not doing the Creativity Project, I would not work as hard to produce something viable every day. If you would like to follow the site, see the sidebar for three methods. Communication from you as a reader gives me some clue whether or not I am engaging you in a manner that pleases you.

I hope all of you who celebrate Easter have a blessed one. To those following other paths, may you find hope, joy, and peace in your daily realm.

Kept

Forbidden entrance
The remains
Though shattered
Survive, alive
With curiosity,
Wondering
How reason
Keeps pace when
Alone all is
Nothing.

A steady fall
Of rain
Washing recollection
Into ditches
Run with clay.

A deep ocean regret
Roars a forward tide
Booming a cave
Where mysteries
Like ghosts hide;
A twine of trellis
Roses with bloodied
Thorns
Upward climbs.

Language aspires
To expand intellect
With fine rhetoric;
Somehow
Encouraging noisome
Ravens to disperse,
Shades, shadows depart.

Love ransomed,
Life sparkles.

Exemplars

One feels excessive
When ignored,
Like a used paper cup
Washed against a clog
Blocking a storm drain
Which will finish its
Descent with an outburst
Of rain and a thunderclap
Causing tender ears pain.

Who we are is a blessing,
For we tumble like rocks
In a polishing canister
Until our sharp edges curve,
Beautiful colors gleam,
On our smooth surfaces,
After time expended in
Bringing us through study,
Toil, trouble, to inspiration.

None is expendable,
Gifts arranged like jewelry,
In a showcase accrued
Throughout hours become
Profitable, years when those
Who dream unfettered, sparkle
Like platinum starburst,
Proving love is the attribute
Most attractive and affirming.

theory

The story is not
Well-defined,
It remains out
Of space and real-time,
Set where we uneasy
May see things
Lent extraordinary.
Grappling with words
Unspoken
Rendered unclear, unsound,
Within open ears
Taking passive captive days
Created as a falling haze.
No magic, some say
But easy patter has ways
Folding thought snug away
To dive deeply into spume
Of non-local intelligence.
All caught within webs
Spun throughout – interwoven
Moments – imaginary,
Filling atmospheres with songs
Unsung, meditated on.
No other species – living –
Approaches linguistic feats
Performed by those who
Little more than crawling
Master,
The universe anxious waits
One and all abide
Connected with unseen
Meaning, the only invisible string
A theory of language, mind,
Everything, matters
Makes the telling clean.
LOVE in its rightful place
Speaking truth is well known
Gifting everyone dreams
Become real –
Celebrate?

Prompt: Read several things and run them through your mind’s processes, then create something.

Gratitude:
Getting laundry done.
Swelling is better in my jaw.
Organizing mail.
Writing.
Reading.
