Remember, Do You?

Do you recall the first time
You realized all the world
Depended on no single thing,
But other hearts needed you
Enough to boost hope and reason
For continuing beyond those
Times love given seemed less
Than what might be wanted?
Remember pulling a smile
From the aether and laughing
Because crying was much too cruel?
When you won your big thing,
Do you remember thinking
Of all the small stuff sacrificed,
And wishing with a lurch,
You had those along with the glory?
Remember the kiss you thought
Meant the world and forever
And somehow all your dreams
Faded like the rosy pink in
A Summer’s sky at the end
Of an utterly magical day?
Do you recall how everything
Seemed so hard and you thought
Of giving up, but someone had
Faith to tell you how you could do
More than you thought possible,
That you were capable beyond
Your belief and you pulled yourself
Up together and conquered defeat
Sallying on to succeed tremendously?
Remember the darkness cannot
Overcome the vision of light
Captured in a moment
Needed to set the flame in
Motion to take back now
And claim the past and forever.
Remember, remember, do YOU?
Do you recall that no matter,
This is your life, and you are able,
Able to survive because you are
Here now and have come so far,
In the present, you can go further,
You can take possession of success.
Despite negatives facing you
Your life is precious and may thrive?

Beat It

The group of voices
Saying we are not enough,
It is time, “Beat it!”
Every day we are standing,
Pushing, fighting to survive.
We can never know
All the possibilities
Now achievable,
If doubt is not pushed aside,
“Yeah, get out, beat it, bad vibe.”
We are better than
This fear we cradle close by,
Negativity
Leave us be, “Beat it for good!”
We do not need harm around.
Christ is within us
We are people of His flock,
We overcomers
Have victory through His love,
“Leave us be, just go, beat it.”

Bursting Inequalities

We, you and me, everyone, can
Be beyond ourselves meeting
Various people together,
We can learn our reasons why
And all happily get by.
No matter who we are
We, everyone, people, are different
We have challenges, hurts, problems, pain,
So much about us is the same
But from our differences, we can
Teach one another about survival.
Our eyes could widen to see
The hero in every person we meet
For  every boy, girl, man, and woman
Is an example of extraordinary courage,
Strength, punching above their weight to
Overcome life’s adversities, calamities,
No one has it easy or figures it all out;
Others can help us understand,
Maybe we, too, can lend a hand.
It is time we recognized life
Is an uphill battle in an endless war
And we cannot win unless we come
To see we are in it all together
We must choose love in each
Situation and help it grow everywhere
We are placed and chance to further go:
We can solve life in loving those we do
And along the way, come to know.

Conversation

The louder the noise
The greater the need for poise
To advocate choice
One must modulate the tone, voice,
Disharmony brings violence.
Speak clear, true, kindly
Remember sweet words get through
Sell the message without you
Everyone notices shouting
But ignores the plot, good manners,
Quiet take over the avenues
Of decisions fairly chosen
What you think, believe,
Definitely has merit
Just be sure what is conveyed
Is not lost in how it is portrayed
Love is never out of season
Information can find a vehicle
In confidence, moderation, and reason.
