2022 Creativity Project – March 9

Triple Tanka
1
Time, a volcano,
Turning elements into flame
Hearts afire again;
If only for one moment
Caught before returning rain.
2
Say we are raveled
Though spun with sincerest care
Hard use it spoils, tears,
Loving cannot erase; its
Pardons, though, it quickly makes.
3
Birthday remembered
Though effort made to take
It from memory,
There is that second I wish
Myself wherever you are.

I finished another book today. I am behind; I have read only nine this year. Long ones, though, some would say that makes no matter. They would agree with me. Still, I think it explains.

I am thankful I got the fiberfill the dog scatters off the carpet, sweeping. I also washed three loads of clothes and a dishwasher full of dishes. I would I felt more energetic. I am lying down as I write this.

Yes, I know you do not have to know, but I am challenged; maybe you are too. Perhaps we should more often celebrate progress.

Prompt
Progress can be anything that is completed which includes challenge or not. Create a piece celebrating progress.

2022 – 365 Creativity Project – March 7

Tanka in Review
1
Authority frames
Work and yet, there is freedom,
Which allows it more
The words like dear angels soar
Above, around, ah, galore.
2
We can walk away
But then nothing changes us,
Going in, ignite,
Becoming a fertile vision
Aflame with noble purpose.
3
When we are the low
We aspire to reach the high
We try, then begin
The climb to futures, desire
Claims the top, grasps childlike.
4
A feeling sighs in –
Clouds above traveling high
Untouched, but by sky,
Racing, racing to apply
Image, magic, before rain.

Prompt
Tanka is a favorite of forms; these are syllabics of 5-7-5-7-7 count. Try some.

Reading seems to be a great inspiration to me. If you have the opportunity, read widely and much.

Gratitude List
I am thankful:
1. I went to town.
2. Rested over the weekend.
3. Reading great material.
4. I Talked to my cousin.
5. Good sleep.

2022 Creativity Project – Feb. 1

I think I shall be happy to keep to date going forward.

Living Time

It could be Tuesday, though any day would do as well. Francis never thought to specify this time, and it had simply become too dangerous to stay when they were.

He did not often have Morgan with him on such jaunts, but he had invited her to engage in some tourism. Now he was more thoroughly convinced than before that he preferred her safely at home.

In his careful examination, it appeared that this snafu was due to no malfunction or mistake of his own. He cleared his reports, but those revealed that someone, somewhere, somehow, somewhen was purposefully ignoring his longstanding imperative directive on the methods and devices he held total responsibility for creating.

The misuse of proprietary developments was a severe problem. No one else could set the variables straight, and Francis entertained a suspicion even he might fail. It was an unprecedented disaster.

He realized earnest prayer was in order. Action must be taken with haste. It seemed a saboteur was in the machine, actively fooling with time.

Tanka
Eagle in full flight
Knowing Earth is bountiful
Stretching forth talons
Spying the many creatures;
We aware power features.

Prompt
I riffed on the thought that it was Tuesday in the depths of night, do something similar and create something. You could pick an object, sound, conversation, whatever catches your imagination.

Gratitude List
I am thankful:
1. I went outside without the dogs and took some photos.
2. Solitude.
3. Powerblocks.
4. Imagination.

Tanka

1]
Even though I took
Pills, sleep was temporary,
Stranger to my bed
Taking me for some trouble
Disturbing blankets cover.
2]
Someone other needs
To take all these things over,
Creativity
Is more vibrant a demand
Than any competency.
3]
Tunnels brisk ended
Further moves cannot be made,
Impossible is
Given upon blocking up
Paths beyond this here today.

Prompt
Your life is full-bore those things you need to create. Catch it; take the shot.

Gratitude List
1. Reading
2. Choosing to do this no matter how I feel.
3. Central heat.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 20

Tanka and Regulars

Sometimes the strength flees
Without an explanation
But sweet temper holds
The heart keeps smiling songs bold
As women who men behold.

Prompt
Create work about a condition of the constitution. Bonus if you can bring it off without stating or illustrating what you describe.

My apologies; I have been very exhausted all day. This may suffer.

Gratitude List
1. Reading great books.
2. Electric lighting.
3. Washer.
4. Dryer.
5. Clothes.

You have drifted off
I know not where, but my heart
Begs me to find you,
My soul recalls how much you
Delight me, renew my life.

Overcast, like Winter
Days that threaten from cotton
Skies to drop blankets
Of freezing sleet, snow, and ice,
My life withers without you.

I write love poems only because I know love due to experience. The fruitlessness of current days makes me fear I am lost with no way.
