Fragments Amended

I do much of my writing in my journal, and bits and pieces are often orphaned there. There is a lot of writing which never makes it to screen. It is not that it is inferior, just that I cannot put up too many pages.

Please, if you like what I do here, interact in some way. It helps make it more likely others might see the work.

As a prompt, go across your social media and react, engage with some of the creators you like or admire. Even just with your friends. Every like, every comment means a broader audience.

Give me one last kiss,
You will never see me cry,
I will fade away –
Goodbye – you have your life – days
Precious, set apart, without
Room or time for me.
I respect you so much, enough
To go before I am
Become a footnote written
On the pages every day.
I wish you all happiness,
With such love as you crave, deserve,
May you find in another
The heart of all the love you hope.

So much is riding
On strings of words which might not
Be spoken aloud,
Before the night falls alone
Blocking out the fragile hope
Giving a fingerhold, keeping
Love afloat, buoyed by faith.

I try so to entertain, and yet sometimes I feel the investment is futile. The bounty I hope for may never bloom from Winter lying fields at Spring but be forever lost in frost.

Thank you for spending some time here, reading. Please be well and find the way here again.

Dodging Crevasses

Too many bridges into
Mountains too far
Where dreams may be lost
In the climbing over rocks,
Boulders that shifting can
Send hope hiding under
Fear, misery, doubt, despair.
Still, the beauty at the summit
Makes the trouble on the path
Seem insignificant and worthwhile
For climbing ever higher is
How growth and learning occur.

Bespoke

Moments forever
Cradled in your loving arms
Finding myself once,
Always, when I become lost –
In the music of your touch.
Where you lead me is
Impossible without you
Are here, ever near
Guiding me an endless tour
Covering time, space, every-sphere.
We are met and meant
A promise set long ago
When eternity
Cast plans of all futures to
Come within hours of being.
I may write our rhyme,
But you are each word, making
All the sentences
Together, perfect, meaning,
Heartbeat, pulse, breath, giving voice.
I could never turn
Walk away because you are
Written on every
Exterior, interior part
Who I was, am, will soon be.

As a prompt, what is your dream? The one that keeps you going when the pain is too intense and giving up seems a plausible option. Create something which celebrates that base level of who you are and who you intend to become. If it seems just too hard, do it anyway. You are not here for mediocrity; you are here to fulfill a purpose, a purpose only you can discern.

Faded Roses

The flowers began as a wistful dream of a bountiful harvest, but once cut from the bushes and placed within a vase, they began to fade and crumble—a falling off begun because the blooms were separated from their source.

Nothing living can long survive without nurture. So much depends on tender care. In this life with its challenges, desperation, distractions, doubts, fears, being connected to a network of people who love us is essential.

In this time of isolation, we must find realistic ways to rally our spirits in whatever togetherness we can devise. We need safety zones to engage in conversation without masks and where we can give hugs freely.

We would be negligent to disregard the needs of those who are most vulnerable, but even they need the reassurance of beloved faces and physical touch.

It has been an exceedingly difficult year, but we can help others bloom and remind each one that even in a shadow season, the Lord is present. God will eventually clear the clouds away, and the beauty of humanity’s promise will shine as newly minted gold.

The Music Found Me Words

“Creatives are fit and strong,”
I read somewhere in time.
I tried to test the statement out,
But I am uncertain I know
Or understand its meaning.
There are days I can
Hardly place my feet upon
The floor without crying out,
Days I search my mind for words
Finding nothing I can score.
So I rummage round, find myself
A smile, try it on for a little while,
Often, I fall into a bout of tears
Because of missing others
Who once blessed my years.
Days trot on and hours pass
Galloping by, I must eat the pain
Going dancing forward to a tune,
Hold on, keep moving, do not
Walk away from what tests you.
This is only a temporary trial
God assures it will surely pass
I can hold on by His grace
Another moment, soon enough
He brings me through it.
All endured fades into the past,
Tomorrow holds brilliant dreams
Scintillating possibilities abound
With the triumphant rising of the sun
A chance to influence eternity.
