Before and After

This is my improvised standing desk where I write longhand, draw, doodle, and create. Lots of the results you see here develop there. It has been in that state for about three years. Tonight I brainstormed a solution to it looking so thrown together.

I had this King-Size quilt and sham set, prbably for twenty years. I did a litlle rearranging, fitting, and I think the results are decent.

Be Encouraged

The gracious sun rose today
Its rays upon the earth to play
With life-giving light to nourish
And illuminate where it fell.

God loves you endlessly and
Extravagantly,
He is forever ready
To intercede.

Children and pets still
Find ample reasons
For JOY as they share
Themselves and their play.

Someone loves you more
Than it is possible
For you
To ever guess or know.

Flowers, trees, birds, bees,
Creatures, foliage, freely grow;
Rivers, oceans, streams, all
Manner of waters sustaining flow.

You have learned volumes
There is so much more to keep
You content in further discovery
As you gain wisdom, so you know.

Music and film,
Books and magazines,
Cater to every taste
And intellectual whim.

Be Encouraged,
You are ALIVE
And life, the living
Is precious.

Life; greater than
Any sum of money,
Or vast collection
Of priceless gems.

Lofty or lowly each
Has reason and purpose,
Station can change in the haste
Of a blinking eye.

Keep hoping, loving, trying,
Bring all you are and remember,
Your blessings always,
For Blessed Beloved You Are.

Years ago when I used typewriters, I used to play with creation in type. I rarely do it on computers and I have no answer why. I do carefully chose typefaces or fonts. Anyway, this is a bit different for me. Again, I borrowed the idea from the moderator in my Journal Writing group.

I hope all of you are having a good evening, or day, as may be. Try to remember love, because love is everything.

Thank you for visiting Haphazard Creative. There is a follow button, or you may come back as time allows.

I am here each day, this is a 365 Creativity Project for the year 2020. I am pleased that so far I have posted at least once each day.

Conjecturing

What is it about?
All this doing and going,
Do we know lovely?
Have we tied ourselves in knots
Because of things we are not?

I Will Be Writing…

When I am tired, and pain is eating me up.
When my mind is hard-pressed to contain itself and continue against disease.
When the bills come with no relief.
When I doubt anyone cares about my words or will read.
Still…

I will be writing because, as far as I can discern, there is no line, no boundary, drawn between words and who I am.

It has always been reading, writing, being. Take my experience of language from me, I likely would quickly cease to be.

Each curving mark, sentence, punctuation mark is endowed with life, a portion of me.

Maybe I seem to exaggerate, but given time away from expression, I begin to regress, fade, lose will to continue, and become unanchored in reality.

For some writing may be a pastime, an idle pursuit, and that may be best for them. Me, it is living, dealing, breathing, so I Will Be Writing…

As a prompt: Think of something that defines or confines you in existence. Create something that expresses this, and perhaps a blueprint for change or greater success within your personal constraints. Remember you can only control what you choose to acknowledge.

Small Pleasures

Last weekend my mentor arranged a few hours away from his overwork, and we went shopping. This was partly because his schedule prevented our spending time on my birthday, which would not have worked for me either. I copy edited that day.

We went to Dollar Tree, and I fell for the store—everything a dollar, yes, my precious. Now, honestly, this entered my certification as a “personal money trap” to be avoided by me.

He told me to look around, and he went to get specific things. This was not a good place to turn me loose, no.

Anyway, among the things I got, the miniature organizer above. I lived with all my finds a couple of days without unpacking them. Then I took a selection of pens and put them in the organizer. The second day of looking at it unembellished, I got stickers and changed its personality.

It is so sweet that he got those few goodies for me. It does not take a lot to make me happy, a trip to a Dollar Tree with one of my favorite people.

I bet some of you know what I mean.

As a prompt, tell about a small thing that made you feel on top of the world.
