Yawning Into View

Those are big teeth you have and such a large mouth, my dear Wookie,

The photo I got was not the one I anticipated, but children and dogs tend to make their poses.

Are we not all beset by the desire to change, grow, move? One place is serving us, but it taxes our fortitude as well. Fear falls over us as we confront the unknown, but we must go.

We are the heroes of our stories, and the hero’s tale is a journey. Even when remaining in a particular locale, we journey farther into unknown territory. Age, career, health, home, interests, possessions, pursuits, relationships, and more may be our challenging highways.

Standing still is an impossibility because life will move us, if not immediately, indirectly. We hope that all the knowledge amassed in other times, toils, and trials will equip us for success.

Faith, hope, and love shore us up and allow us to attempt the impossible. The impossible is our goal; it just takes a bit of time.

Heroes

I rate no kisses
In ordinary moments,
But I am also
The Provider Of The Food.
In the minutes which
I fill the ceramic bowl
I come clothed in praise,
When I set the food down, there,
No one is more beloved.
Next, I sit; I am
Slathered in grateful kisses
I have no escape,
So food is the way to win –
All pure doggie hearts,
Walking is miraculous
Work too, so dogs admire you.

Doggie Dreams

It was a day
To
Rebound from being
In lockdown,
A day
Maybe
To run far and fast
Away,
Hope thought so
Anyway.
As she walked out
The door she leapt
Forward
Pulling against restraints
Of her leash thinking
Perhaps this once her human
Would let go,
Praying doggie prayers
For freedom though
She knew nowhere else,
She
Would rather be.
It did not work,
It never did,
Hope had tried
A thousand times
Before.
So, she prayed for treats,
Toys and petting from
Her human
And tossed her tail
In the breeze
Like
The beauty she
Was convinced
She was made to be.

A light tribute to my sweet Hope baby.

Alive

Leaf light filters through
Casting mosaic patterns
Brown, crimson, golden
Painted floor of woods cushioned
So footfalls are hardly heard.
Somewhere a dog howls,
A coyote snickers and yelps
An owl asks questions
No one deigns to give reply
Quiet nestles peace to rest.
As dusk falls, followed
By the skeins embroidering
Night, a crystal moon
Sighs strewing pale reflections
Of incandescent day bright.
Beyond window glows
Secrets like insulation
Keep swallowed stories
As deep as Earth and Ocean
Full as the starred Milky Way.
In hearts brilliant hot
Coals aroused to give new flame
Love Becomes Again
Whatever the driving force,
We, humans, find home together.

Time Again

Every month it is
The same – others on me have
Claims, well, more upon
My funds, they all want money,
For my life to smoothly run.
I allocate this
Here, that there, everyone gets
Their (un)fair share of
What I have got which is not
A lot, but I cannot complain.
The dogs and I, we
Still can eat and have a place
To stay, play, and sleep.
Life is not bad, could be worse,
I will keep smiling, happy,
At peace with what is
My universe, thankful Christ
Oversees all things
Taking care that we are well,
Safe, blessed beyond deserving.
