No Advice

It is not another’s to tell us
How to live our lives
The things we should do,
But facts attest that love
Is a gift which makes
Everything easier to survive.
When there is a hand
To hold in stormy weather
We stand more resolute,
Stronger than when walking
Through troubled days alone.
Maybe no one can carry
All the burdens we bear,
But conversation sometimes
Helps explore facets of reality
We need to more clearly see.
Love supports us every second
Transports our hopes, prayers;
Friends, family, those who know us
Best, help us nurture our dreams
Reach for the achievements
Which bring us to the places
Where we accomplish those
Wonders accepted with amazing
Gratitude because we recognize
Without those standing near
We could never get anywhere.
The great love we receive
Our hearts on our lonesome
Cannot begin to feel or reveal,
So should LOVE come a fresh-faced
Hello, though it is a smile riddled
By surrounding lines of years,
Or smooth as a freshly painted layer,
Remember the bodily wrappings
Are a matter much less than
The tender gift of a heart
Timely in approach and giving.

Love Treads Sprightly

While you are standing
Here, still, waiting, the timing
To move on along,
Remember silence can be
A gift, revelatory.

Listen now closely
You may hear the bright ringing
Of sweet golden bells
In the distance of your life;
You can catch them if you try.

Gifts unforgotten
Lie outside, and you shall reach
Those places where all
Belonging to you comes clear;
Like a sunrise over waves.

No movement required
To recognize what blesses you:
Love warming your heart,
Someone precious holding hands
When you need more strength to stand.

The shadow may hang
Over a day, week, month, year,
But it goes away
When you realize love’s power
Holds you complete, safe, secure.

The art of loving
Is the most fantastic gift
Given you to share
In relationships discovered
Throughout every stage of living.

Once you become friends
With the idea of loving people,
Much misunderstood,
Fades like storm clouds cleared away,
Leaving happiness behind.

Love is the common
Respect accorded people
Well met every day
Plus all the ones who become
Close, dear, and so important.

Create joy, give love,
Find the purpose for which you
Were put on the Earth,
You know life is sweeter when
Shared among family, friends.

As a prompt: If you are still isolated or not, take a few minutes to think about how you can use downtime to your advantage. Perhaps you might tune in to those you have in proximity, or create, or learn, or explore what you so well know. Once you have an idea, create something. Art, writing, score, poetry, photography, cakes… whatever, do it, make the moment your moment. Own who you are.

Happy Mother’s Day

My Mom and I in July 1992. She was my bridesmaid that day; the most gorgeous I could have dreamed. Mom believed in me when I could not. She helped me when no one else would. She gave me the world because she taught me reading and writing.

The loss of her is incalculable. The times I need her are astronomical. I hope the Lord will give her a hug in Heaven and wish her Happy Mother’s Day for me!

My computer is being repaired. It is in desperate shape and will require time. I am posting from the tablet, and this may be it today. The week has been a series of disasters, praying things improve. I do not even have a working cellphone at present.

When beset by trouble, it will pass, good times will return.

When your tech goes beserk, it is well if you have redundant systems.

Response Today

It has been weeks since
There has been any response
To repeated requests made
That he call me, talk to me,
Depression had settled in.

Then the phone rang with
His name filling its little screen
My son, my joy, all
I had been hoping for, real,
My heart, in response, joyful grew.

We talked and talked more
Everything I hoped for came,
Like the world was right,
Knowing he was well, that we
Remained like clones, years separately.

More than anything
Or anyone, he is special
The love never fades,
He is my happiest of happy
The brightest of fairest days.

Alex, if you ever read this, know I love you.

The PAD Challenge Countdown prompt today was “Response.” The fact life called was just a happenstance.
