Adding Up

Did you stop to hear the bird sing,
See the beauty of a rose,
Wonder at the singularity of humans,
Have your face licked by a dog?
Do you know with these things
Beloved, God pours out His love?
He counts you precious treasure
And has filled life with His riches,
You are the child He smiles upon
Be confident in the Savior’s heart
You exist with infinite worth.

Facing Forward

Willing to brave fire
For acquiring more peaceful
Circumstances in
Whatever the future may
Intend to provide for us.

Freezing beneath skies
Bled of almost all color
Hanging a ceiling
Above every detail shown
In those faces, come and gone.

All that fades away
Gives no notice of intent
To leave absence, holes,
In places where reality
Should always remain intact.

Courage does not mean
We are strong, but only shows
We get up, go on
Even when the odds settle
Against us unyielding, real.

Departing – Run

The roses in my
Tomb bloom with little violence
Crimson as innocent blood;
I realize others are
Insecurely fragile as well.
This life
Is living proved
Without consequence beyond
The limit of thought
Within minds much overwrought;
Where love requires vacation.
Creativity
Once solid shelter from storms
Becomes a tantrum,
Storm, its own, without control
Each issue written larger.
Isolation is
A rock in the cityscape
Sudden harsh breaking,
Force unleashed to destroy all,
But tattered souls in shadow.
Putting together
Strength remains monumental,
For teaching oneself
Swift to walk on, abandon,
When patience begs, continue.
Stately dragon lies
Upon ashes, abject ruin,
Indeed the phoenix will not
Rise because hope has farther
Flown than ever before known,
Death, dying, fear, sadness roost.
Still, the sky above
Declares itself an instrument
Of God’s inception,
A ceiling painted with wonder
Under which humans flourish.

Prior/Unto

We wondered about
What happened if the world stopped –
Then we began to
See into who we could be
When all things changed completely.
We did not want all
The actions taking place here
Everywhere in time;
Few of us became able
To understand life going on.
Even so, we persevered
Dealing with the changes as
If everything was
Alright, and we learned we could
Come together – separate but as one,
To challenge living going on.

Tiny Tidy Bits

Sadness – written in
Shades of shadow, black and gray,
No way to escape

//////////

The music plays, songs
To lift weary hearts, giving
Hope enough to live.

//////////

Profuse the lilies
Blooms coloring everything
With smiles, happiness.

//////////

Borrow the chatter
Of the squirrels chasing round
A filled bird feeder,
You might find greater delight
Than sitting alone tonight.

//////////

Someone left the doors –
Wide-open to delight my heart,
Love, smooth, sauntered in.

These are my brand of haiku and tanka. I always have fun with counted syllables. Sometimes, the truth will take a chunk out of you when you work with these because being constrained seems to give the mind some ease with content.

Prompt: If you feel inclined, write some haiku and tanka of your own.

Gratitude:
My appointment on Monday went exceptionally well.
I am reading some great books.
I went to Aldi and got some food.
Having my little piece of real estate on the internet.
I keep trying even when I am discouraged.

If you enjoy the content you find here, please give feedback by likes, comments, follows. I appreciate each one more than you know.

Have an excellent downhill slide to the weekend. God bless and keep you always.
