Was A Moment

Silence covered us
Holding us together, apart,
In space, time, open
To the music between
In keeping with unexpressed
Feelings labeled – undefined.

Nothing spoken, no touch,
Could move our share much;
All ladled like soup,
Into bowls flowing with steam
Passion below the surface
Squeezed with covers of wild dream.

Part and portions given, real,
Misunderstanding enough to feel,
Fully gratified, satisfied,
Betide passion and wanting
To enter whatever door disclosed
Shores where love reigns supreme.

A moment came which presented
The possible opportunity of knowing,
Choices appeared positive
But somehow, the mistakes made
Evaporated certainty like raindrops
Refracting from Summer pavement.

What was ours became ethereal
A band, solid but impermanent
As lightning across an azure sky,
Characters who played out
Emotions for which we never paid,
However, memories we cannot mislay.

Prompt: Create something relating to a past time invested with lots of emotion.

Gratitudes:
The day is closing.
Nothing terrible happened.
I figured out why my devices were not writing to SD cards.
It was warmer.
Memory can be a great escape.

Be New

The past is a melody,
No longer known;
The words are gone
Lost in yesterdays.
The love carried
Lives within fond hearts,
But pains have no part,
In future choices made.
Free to be today
Who exists this moment;
No living in fear, shame
Of the hurt, mistakes before.
The gift of creativity
Changes the things
Learned through faith
Into treasures carried on.
Love builds up beauty,
More than ever dreamed,
Freeing hearts to reach
Sudden aspirations and truths.
The broken, stolen things
Fade away as strengths gain
Each, every day, in all ways.
Better than before,
The best is wholly possible,
Because the things ended
Were in depths laid to rest,
Forward, pass, conquer the test.
The past is a song
Others may continue
But it no longer defines
Who a person becomes.

Haiku
The taste of what may
Come to be, draws the farmer –
To plant, tend, the seed.

Prompt: If you write in the personal particular, take one of those works and turn it global, so it applies to others.

Thankfulness:
Today was a mostly quiet day.
I found a new channel on YouTube Music.
Chocolate.
I woke from my horrid dream and finally calmed down.
Pizza.

Making It Happen

When writing or art comes straight through the Muse (Creativity), it is easy to create, but it becomes a more complicated process when the inspiration dries up. One has to reach deeper, think harder, be more persistent, and attempt coaxing imagination out to play.

This state is not ideal. There is not a full-blown block, but work becomes a challenge.

Writers may find helpful short forms like haiku or tanka. Different locations may inspire many. Meeting and socializing with a variety of people can inspire unique perspectives. All creatives could benefit from novel experiences that inform creation. Craft books are often useful. Reading, video, and music can enchant and educate us, bringing fresh material to mind.

For those who engage in daily practice, continuing is essential. As in all things, one’s mastery benefits from not giving up.

Habits of calm and quiet can also induce states conducive to the breaking of creativity into consciousness. To slow down, invoke peace, still the racing of body and mind facilitates copious production.

Taking leave from the busyness of screens makes room for thoughts unbiased by advertisement, frantic activity, and media to surface. Constant immersion in the digital world can sometimes drain away originality.

Conversation with family, friends, and others may also add filler to the well. Long walks with rapt attention to surroundings can awaken capacities often drown in routine.

Always remember, love and creativity, though perhaps muted, are present. Do not quit. Capture hope, ideas, joy, for those are available and plentiful when actively pursued.

The Well, Prepared

Situation Playcation – © Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

Writing is the thing that teaches us to understand the experience we cannot command or comprehend. Living is a riot, constant impressions, wild digressions, unbanished obsessions, mythic approximations, and passionate exhibitions.

Love is real, no poetic fairytale; it sometimes bites with destructive force. There are other times it breathes life back into a being near become a cold, bloodless corpse. Heedless, love carries headless need into ages where hearts aflame assuage the blame for falling again.

I.
When what you most want
Remains beyond ability
You become adept
Using CREATIVITY
To fulfill some hopes and dreams.

II.
I am not ideal
But being real is enough
For those loving me.

III.
I have discovered
The wild child passionate self
Does exist still.

IV.
I could sing you blue,
Golden, or bright rainbow hues;
I would disappear
In the arrangement of notes,
Unrecognized within you.

V.
Love plays, tackling us,
In fields where flowers obey
Injunctions to fade;
We are colors resisting
What makes delight history.

Prompt: Create something showing how writing or art rescue from the forgetfulness of greedy insanity.

Thankfulness:
No television to distract.
Productiveness.
Moleskine.
Love.
Creativity.

Add Lift

Once I cleared my head,
My heart began singing love,
Grateful for all things.

Lift

No consequence without
Acting to lift the package,
The heart
A crane building homes
Within lanes of thought,
Given encouragement,
Inspiration,
To grasp creativity
With every part.
Daring to grow higher,
Stronger,
Beyond each chain, pain,
Locking cages of timidity.
Now prepared to bolt
Like a Mustang who owns
The land touched by
The free pounding wildness
Of hooves
Never shod, trampling
Dust into golden clouds
Shining like a priceless
Opportunity,
To be the one who leads
From laments to choruses
Of elation
Bringing all toward elevation
Where the carefully crated
Surprise is unbound, revealing
Love
To all who are knowingly
Seeking to encompass
More, abound.
