Entry One

This is the final portion of my journal that I finished at 11:59 pm, Saturday, December 31, 2023.

Pardon my use of the word enemies; until recently, I had believed myself without the degree of hostility fostered toward me that warrants the use of that term, but I now conclude there are some persons and organizations who so qualify.

Following is the first page of my journal for the year 2023. The anger I explore in the poem was and is toward Wookie, my dog, who upset me almost further than my grip on my emotions could sustain. I happily inform you that the beast is alive and well.

I hope you proceed into this promising New Year with peace and joy. We have much for which to be thankful over the past year, and we can meet 2023 with positivity. New blessings and greater abundance await us if we will but welcome them into our lives.

I am confident that we can go forward in good spirits, knowing improvement may greet us if we avail ourselves of the wonder of Love and live within its grace.

I am thankful:

2.  I have a home that affords me shelter and some comfort.
3.  There is adequate food in my domicile that starvation is now averted.
4.  The dogs are company and caring toward me.

Alas, and Away

You wanted me once,
It was already too late
You were walking out
The door on your way elsewhere
Falling for somebody else.
I always wanted
You from the first, beginning,
Like a childhood crush
Way, way overdone, too much;
Love, still falling into you.
Now, so far away
Living, we are avoiding
Any chance to see
One another because, here,
Love holds us close together.
Keep on, keeping on
Apart from being with me
Go on; you stay free
By this late date, you might find
My heart has left you behind.
I have to remind
Myself, I am doing fine
On my own – alone
This love just a memory
Never a reality.
Still, keep yourself there
Stay away now; only fair,
Because ah, perhaps
I could be somehow convinced
You have a place for me, us.

Nobody needs another broken-hearted love poem, dangling on, like yesterday. It’s what all the best people say, anyway. However, I have enough love left over to keep writing these things, forever.

So forgive me again, for this time, when the night could not keep me in check, I wrote it. Whatever did you expect? No, you know better; you should see the letters. Together, no never, but love unrequited, it is remarkable as a dream, in deep Winter, of Spring bringing its breezes.

In the After Hours

While most were sleeping my creativity came out to play. I will share some of the proceeds here…

Today with much more
To carry has many thoughts
It may share with us
Beyond yesterday’s blurred clouds
Pregnant with memory’s tears.

Prodigious Prompts

1. If you described your attitude this month, what tree would you be?

2. We lose parts of ourselves to situations and people regularly. If you could return one quality lost last week, what would you regain? What present attribute would you sacrifice for it?

3. No one told you there was a meeting. What do you wish you had left at home today?

4. For the next two weeks, one primary or secondary color throughout your life will be replaced with newsprint gray. What color are you comfortable giving away?

Storm

I am not who I might be if life were a different reality. I walk between this and that, here and there, time and forever. I get lost because there is never enough of my giving to soothe the souls I disturb. I would love, Love, love, but am a nuisance, a bygone heart ripped apart. Whoever, I am meant to be is twisted and confused within me and without any security. So, blame, blame the rain that falls October from these troubled eyes. An Agent of Spiraling Chaos, may be the truth , there, though I cannot see, thinking Haphazard Creative more truly me.

I am hoping and hiding, an original, tortured by rank facsimiles. No, no, you misread my disposition candidly.

Acclaim

God heals, holds, enfolds
Us in His Love unending
We are His children,
Bought, the price, Christ’s sacrifice,
Jesus is forever for us.
Gifts: mercy, grace, Love
Always accruing to us
We are blessed children,
Each one precious to Jesus
Souls, hearts, sealed by His Spirit.

PROMPT: If you are inclined, create something outside or inside the storm. Choose your comfort or discomfort and away.

Gratitude: Being whatever it is, I come to be, wherever I am placed, as will be. Blessings eternal.
