What Inspires You?

I have been in a Journal Writing group that began on Yahoo and moved to Facebook for a very long time. Today, our moderator asked, “What Inspires You?” Me, being an equal opportunity opportunist jumped on the subject and brought it here. What follows are a few of my inspirations.

INSPIRATION:

Reading, writing, photography, kindness, the beauty of creation especially people, music, a taste, a smell, a sensation I cannot describe, light, shadows, my dogs, being alone, being free, you all here, knowing those who have gone still have influence in life, love, belief, togetherness, God’s presence and blessings, devices, shelter, chocolate, diet soda, everything my dears.

There is no limit to what can lead my mind to ponder. I wonder, is it like that for you? Do you have to be in a certain mood? I find myself often excited by the simple fact of being and must celebrate its vast array of goodness.

Life is dangerous
Never fair without God near;
The love of ages
On us befalls when we call
Jesus into our dreams, plans.

I am sure I fall
Far short of who I should be,
But it is beyond me.

I am grateful:
1.  I have a Kirby.
2.  I have stupendous dogs.
3.  I have collected tons of books.
4.  I am gifted with the ability to write.
5.  I tend to inspire extreme loyalty in my friends, those few who remain.

Ladies and gentlemen, I wonder, do you like WordPress’ Block Editor? I tried it and found it was like hieroglyphics. I, therefore, reset my space to classic.

No Consolation

Anger

Is it this situation, out of hand,
Where the world is wrong making
Plenty of tension, anxiety, no escape?
Playing on emotions deeply
Currying favor with the violence
Held at bay, so forbidden, hidden.
An open hand when the instinct
Offers up a fist, a calm insistent,
Instead of a horrid scream, hiss.
What are these breaking sounds
Within the heart, the mind, what
Damage made while keeping kind.

Lay Lay By

The days trace themselves
Across the surface; straw, dirt,
Shelter, foliage, rock, hair, skin –
Leaving marks, weather, pass,
Time, months, past, again, ever,
Until the season goes, slippery,
No one knows if it will bring
Forth another day, hour, free –
Or if as the day goes by it may
Be the last lay by into eternity.

Sometimes looking into the sun becomes a bright too clear, and the shadows impinge on vision. There can be beauty in the shadows, as well. We would not know the blessing of comfort did we not experience pain.

Today has been reflective, with missing those gone. Also, grief for all we have lost in this time of isolation. I bid you hope that all is more pleasant for you.

Broken

Wookie and I were playing. I threw her toy, and it hit the rice bowl I made in maybe kindergarten, maybe first or second grade. I knew it was terrible; then I heard the china hit the ceramic. The delicate china at that velocity under gravity’s influence stood no chance. It shattered, as you can see.

Sometimes we are like delicate china, safe enough until a tempest of trials and troubles hits us out of the blue. Maybe it is the winds of change in our finances or our health—the loss of something or someone we hold dear. We break, and we feel we are permanently damaged, but we are fortunately more resilient than china.

Somehow with God’s help and the passage of time, we recuperate and usually become more durable than before. We learn from the problems. We have so many reserves of strength and such power to overcome adversity.

I am not sure what to do with my broken keepsake, but God knows by sending us through the fire that he refines us and fuses our brokenness into greater faith and reliance on Him.

I did not have a post for tonight. I had been away from home today, spending time with one of my most favorite people—nothing like broken memories to set me straight.

The Cross

Sometimes even writers are inarticulate; when overcome by awe, grief, excitement, words can fail us. Such circumstance is not the best to beset a wordsmith, for merely by the name, expert use of words is proclaimed.

I struggle with discovering a way to explain Faith, Love, the meaning Jesus has to me.

The reason why I wear a Cross:

Some people criticize the Cross as a symbol of Christianity, but the cross I wear stands for the sacrifice Christ made when he bled and died that sinners could be clean of all iniquity. He multiplied a pardon from eternal separation and death’s penalty to all who in Him choose to believe. The Lamb of God, the Sinless One, gave His life upon a cruel Cross for our Salvation, Freedom, the Victory we share. Jesus rose, the Resurrected Life, He Lives, as can we if we follow Him.

Yes, the Cross is lowly, a cruel and perverted instrument of torture and death, but what matchless Love my Savior showed to place Himself upon that Cross hanging between Heaven and Earth, Eternity, and destruction. He through His Life, Death, and Resurrection became the Bridge humanity may cross to enter eternal life. So, the Cross; became sacred, anointed with His holy blood. The Atonement was provided; humanity has a gift so precious and priceless that even Heaven wept when it was brought. Upon accepting the gift of Salvation, believing in Jesus, we become part of God’s Family.

I wear a cross; there is meaning enough for me.

Forward and Toward

As the moments, hours, days, pass
The world we know makes changes
Sometimes for the better, others not,
We cannot choose its path nor way.
But,
We are here, and our influence may
Be felt in our day to day, the smiles,
We share, the times we care,
The seeds we sow, the flowers grown.
Nothing
Done is done alone, connected is all
Universally, the steps we take
The deeds we dare, everyone has
A share in God’s magnificent tapestry.
When
Fear dogs our steps we need only
Look around to see that there is
Meaning in everything and even we
Have some effect on the eventualities.
Love
Is… and exists to show us, the world,
All things, what treasure we are and
How the Lord’s goodness is spread
Full and free in creation through
Creativity
He has placed in every part,
Dear to Him and near His heart
Our lives precious beloved,
Chosen each, every single one.
