You may notice that my ink varies. I have an abundance of pens and change them out with each page. I love pens. They are great tools.

Pardon my use of the word enemies; until recently, I had believed myself without the degree of hostility fostered toward me that warrants the use of that term, but I now conclude there are some persons and organizations who so qualify.
Following is the first page of my journal for the year 2023. The anger I explore in the poem was and is toward Wookie, my dog, who upset me almost further than my grip on my emotions could sustain. I happily inform you that the beast is alive and well.
I hope you proceed into this promising New Year with peace and joy. We have much for which to be thankful over the past year, and we can meet 2023 with positivity. New blessings and greater abundance await us if we will but welcome them into our lives.
I am confident that we can go forward in good spirits, knowing improvement may greet us if we avail ourselves of the wonder of Love and live within its grace.

It is yesterday’s news, but you might read it some distant tomorrow, never knowing the when of it all. It fell apart again, but no one knew the signs; they were too busy in their lives of satisfactory rhyme.
The dregs in the pot that provided the coffee could perhaps illuminate, but by then, it was probably too late. Broken hearts litter the ground where discordant words often find their sound.
A whisper of waking to the morning linen gives hope, but the bed contains only one body, insufficient for an incident of joy.
Tomorrow is the predicate of yesterday, but today wends away. Fortune is no lasting friend but slips off with a passing wind. One seldom remembers but never forgets a love vanishing to purchase what survives beyond regret.
Familiar, those bonds forged over a bundle of years breaking down into stifled tears disallowed to tumble from wary eyes. No one left to ensure feeling together thrives.
There is no secret No perfect way to handle All the things life gives – It is only now, living Through each moment, we are, have. Alarm bells clanging, Favorite songs playing, blare, Everything is there To keep us wanting, needing – Engaged in doing, being. We are the present Happening over, in time, Carrying talent Gifts to share fairly and kind Leaving no regrets behind. Love is our reason Even when we cannot rhyme In all the doing Filling each second of life – Understanding the plot line.
I was sitting in A swamp turned out and over, Lightning crashed, hard down, I was almost forever drown Tears were overcoming me; Then a cry arose Clarion against my foes, Sounding like a rose Banner wrapping me within Telling me begin again. Never forsaken – Come now, new heart, awaken To a ground safe, firm, Rock, I may stand complete on The Beloved beckons, come. Treasure hidden bright Revealed in Love’s sterling Light Abandon the night Day brilliant invites delight Heed the sweetest voice calling – Redemption, mercy, Abounding, amazing grace, Sudden about-face Into arms held wholly wide, All fear spirited aside. Severe hurt confide Those things hidden inside Pain, deep oxidized, No more jeopardy – set free, Found, restored, life’s sanctity.
