Images, Imagined

Entry Five – 2023 Creativity Project

Like photographs falling out of a pocket, scattered hither and yonder, we live these days, morphing from now to ever.

I collect things, pens, journals, books, images, and feelings. Never know when I might find myself in need, so I squeeze things in, some with ease. Others come harder, jagged, and broken, but those find meaning, too.

PROMPT: Go somewhere, familiar or strange, take photographs that soothe or move you. See if you have words to fit the images. Try them out to fit. Post if you can and will.

There is something I want to catch. I have not gotten it yet. Maybe I will share it when I do. Today came close, but we all know there are times when images play us for fools, spooling out with bartered charm.

He is my son, Alex’s dog, and I am captivated by his strength and how he simetimes seems pensive and aloof.

I caught other photographs, but maybe these are enough for today. I do not know, indeed cannot say for sure, but I might bog someone down. Time will keep, until it does not, then it will slide out and away.

Thankful for these, Today:

1.  Oreo cookies.
2.  The pen I photographed above is a spirit of music, and music is a muse.
3.  January, days when the depth and darkness seem to fall away.
4.  Finishing reading the first book in the new year.
5.  Sleep.

Most of my work today poured into my journal. Writing by hand sometimes seems more directly connected to creation within the brain. The beginning was rough, but a topic finally appeared.

Gratitude List

I Am Thankful:

1.  Although the start was challenging, I found things to fill my pages.
2.  I slept more than at times.
3.  My Son, Alex, called.
4. I got some troubled devices sorted out.
5.  Life is filled with pleasant surprises.

Shorts (haiku and tanka)

1.
The grass outside hides
A cave where our dreams reside;
Let’s shelter inside.
2.
Keep On
Pursue life and love
There are enough death and hate,
Keep forever safe –
From thought of our causing harm,
To these selves freely given.
3.
Who will carry us
When we have nothing to give,
Like Winter bare trees?
4.
Their desolation
Lies thick as whimpering pups,
Whose mother is lost.
5.
Say, “Hello, today!”
Yesterday has retreated
Leaving vacant space;
Tomorrow may not arrive
For us, uncertain alive.

Prompt – Do you haiku and tanka? So now, produce.

Sunday’s Thoughts

© Jo Ann J. A. Jordan

I wrote these with a fountain pen, which is not my best instrument. These are my journal pages. If you read them, you will get insight into where and what my state of mind is.

I would have scanned them into the computer, but my equipment and the program did not cooperate with me. Therefore, I did the phone as I have for the past months.

Showing journal pages is a level of openness I can do, but it is a bit uncomfortable. I have no idea how this audience will react, so it is a gamble.

How revealing can you be? Consider that a prompt.

Blessings, I hope, always find you. Jesus, lend you peace. Live, alive, and Love cause that is why we are here on Earth.
