2022 Creativity Project – Day 19

I never know how these entries will fall, whether readers will like them or not. I do know I always hope they bring glory to God.

My life has been a jumble of experiences. Without the miraculous love of Jesus, I would not have come so far.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.— Proverbs 19:21

Letting Him Lead

This moment, this day
Is an astounding blessing;
Life, a passing breath,
Celebrated beauty, pleasure,
Gifts beyond every measure.
Toddlers, teenagers,
Remind us of the passions
That ran volcanic
Through our veins in younger years,
Still, sometimes it wild appears.
We have learned certain
Graces to evidence with help
From God who teaches
All who willingly allow
His guidance to work somehow.
Prayer, experience,
Discipline through joy and pain,
Let us grow and claim
Nurture and understanding –
Bringing a faithful landing.

My perfectionist and critic always say I do everything wrong. Do you get the treatment, too? I have learned I can fake the tyrants out by claiming I am fooling around. When I push send, they go off the deep end. I guess it goes on and on, never ends.

Being a Copy Editor helps with some of the complaints. I get to catch other people’s mistakes, and it feeds the hungry ghosts.

Prompt
Every day brings its gifts and challenges. Create something that acknowledges what you face today or at another time.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 15

Random Crows

It is Winter, I suppose,
But as the weather is, who knows?
A scattering murder of crows
Wings away as daylight goes.
Caught in these woods at sundown
Cawing echoes, surrounding sound,
Marking a spot in memory
As the crows escape over the chimney.
Ebony wings go forth, calling,
It is backward, into the past falling
My mind flys to times appalling
But I try to busy be, Love installing.

Prompt: Think of something relating to Winter and create work informing your audience.

2022 Creativity Project – Day 11

1
Somehow we decide
How we will go on with life
Under a blanket
Woven considerations,
Troubles, doubts, unbridled fears.
2
This heart is yours to
Capture if you wish or will –
It, I only give.
3
The heat, argument,
Sets the candle flame into
A paroxysm
Of erratic commotion
While it burns, no choice remains.
4
Take me, give me form
For I am yours all alone
My heart sings you songs
With smiles, laughter, joyful tears
Forever, I will be yours.
5
No price set or paid
Is enough for sins forgave
By He who ever
Reigns in Heaven’s brightest halls
Lighted by His lovely grace.

There is a pause to
Breathe before hurry begins,
Listen to the wind;
Restless relentless beating
Of a heart, like waves breaking.

A lot has been, but focusing behind can be a liability. This year beckons in a new gown with a bright face, crowned without tarnish. Embracing new endeavors with hope, joy, and wonder can allow opportunity and possibility. Adventure exists; seeking it is the challenge.

This is post one of 365 days. Join me here, at the inception, and we will go wherever the leading takes us.

Gratitude List
I am Thankful:

1. Holidays were spent with family.
2. My son and I remain close.
3. I have friends on whom I can depend for support.
4. I have creative avenues in which to invest.
5. I am still standing, despite it all, still standing. Onward, heed the call.

PROMPT

Survey the past, let anything negative go best you can, or at least for the moment. Imagine what you want the future to be and create from there. Should there be goals you are ready to hold, enumerate those if you wish.

The Dog Is Not…

The dog is not about the rain. Miserable brown oval lakes accuse me of cruelty. For the raindrops fall, she sudden stops, still and quaking, shakes from nose to tail. I am unwilling this walk to take, but duty tethers me. She cannot count the scents for cover of water; slick it leaves her empty. She tucks her tail, turns, trots me to the door. I warn her, in vivid terms, not to make a deposit in the floor, but does it go beyond her flying nun orifices for understanding? I doubt it; stubbornness is her template. She is that dog, glimpsed, my heart forsook reason, had to adopt, immediately. Love names her mine; pain asks me why? The dog is not about the rain.

I guess this is a prose poem. I do them on occasion. Sometimes breaking lines is an inconvenience.

As a prompt, create something in a form you rarely use.

Bless You!
